Yesterday started out normal enough. Woke up, grabbed coffee, checked my usual news feeds. Scrolled right past that gossip crap at first – ain’t got time for that. But then damn notifications kept blowing up my phone, whole timeline flooded with “GIRL FIGHT BRUTAL UPDATE” crap. Couldn’t ignore it anymore.

First Steps into the Chaos
Figured I’d see what the fuss was about. Jumped onto those public groups where people scream into the void. Place was a mess. Saw:
- Super shaky phone vid someone took – looked like two girls wrestling near a bus stop. Pixels? Bigger than my coffee mug.
- Comments section going nuts. Some users yelling “TEAR HER HAIR OUT!” – disgusting honestly.
- Random accounts claiming they were “sisters” or “cousins” of the fighters. Zero proof.
Felt like swimming in a sewer. Couldn’t even tell if this happened yesterday or last week. People just making stuff up left and right.
Trying to Sort Fact from Fiction
Decided to actually do some digging instead of just gawking. Called my buddy Ben who knows someone at the precinct downtown. Asked casual-like if anything went down near Elm St. yesterday. He texts back an hour later: “Yeah, some disturbance. Minor scrap. Two citations handed out. Nothing major.” That’s it. One sentence.
Then went back online? Total opposite. Armchair detectives swearing it was some gang initiation. Others ranting about “today’s youth.” Saw one post with like 5K shares claiming a girl lost an eye! Showed Ben that crazy post later. He just laughed. “Pure nonsense,” he said.

Where This Left Me
Sat down last night thinking hard about this whole mess. Felt like two different realities:
- The real one: A dumb fight, cops broke it up fast, fines issued. Over.
- The online one: Wild rumors, fake outrage, made-up “experts,” recycled old videos.
Wrote down this whole mess because folks need to see how things twist online. You want real news? Skip the gossip holes. Talk to actual people. Check official sources if you can. Feels exhausting, yeah, but better than drowning in that toxic online crap everyone else is swallowing whole. Still annoyed thinking about it today.
