Alright, folks, gather ’round. Today, I’m gonna share my little adventure on figuring out the lineups for the LAFC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC game. It was a bit of a wild ride, so buckle up!
First off, I started by checking when this whole shindig was going down. Turns out, it was on Sunday, Oct. 27. Okay, cool. Got the date. Then I started wondering, who’s gonna be playing? You know, like a kid on Christmas morning, I was excited to see who would be on the field.
Next, I started digging around to see what the pros were predicting. I saw some chatter that Steve Cherundolo, the LAFC coach, might field a strong starting lineup. Makes sense, right? It’s a big game! I then stumbled upon a predicted lineup for LAFC: Lloris in goal; Murillo, Chanot, and Long in defense; and Hollingshead, Sanchez, and Bogusz in midfield. Sounded pretty solid to me.
Then I got sidetracked a bit. I read that LAFC had just crushed Sporting Kansas City 3-0. Nice! That got me even more pumped for the game. I also found out that they had won a U.S. Open Cup match against Las Vegas Lights 3-1 just a few days before. These guys were on fire!

Boom! There it was. That was actually a bit different than the prediction, which I thought was pretty interesting.

That must have been a nail-biter! Ryan Hollingshead scored the only goal, making him the hero of the day, I guess. I also learned that the Whitecaps have won the Canadian Championships four times. Not too shabby!
Then, I got a little philosophical, thinking about how these young players in the Whitecaps FC Academy dream of making it to the first team and playing in Major League Soccer (MLS). It’s like the ultimate goal for them. Pretty inspiring, if you ask me.
