My Look at Kevin Huerter in 2024
Alright, so I figured I’d spend some time this season, you know, 2024, really watching Kevin Huerter. I’ve always kinda liked his game, that smooth shooting stroke, so I decided to make it a point to track how he was doing.

Starting the Process
First thing I did was just try to catch more Kings games on TV. Didn’t always work with my schedule, but I made an effort. When I couldn’t watch live, I’d pull up the box scores the next morning, see how many minutes he played, what his shooting looked like, stuff like that. Pretty simple, really, just trying to get a feel for his rhythm this year.
What I Noticed Along the Way
Early on, it felt a bit… well, up and down? Some nights he’d look great, hitting those threes, moving well off the ball. Other nights, seemed like he couldn’t buy a bucket. Maybe less consistent than the year before? That’s just what I saw, anyway. I jotted down some notes after a few games:
- Looked for his shot, sometimes forced it a bit?
- Still had that nice release, quick trigger.
- Defense seemed about the same, maybe okay? Hard for me to tell sometimes just watching on TV.
- Seemed like his role was still important, spacing the floor.
I wasn’t doing any super deep analysis, just watching as a fan and keeping track of my general impressions. Checked some basic stats online too, like his three-point percentage, just to see if my eyes were matching the numbers. It kinda felt like the percentages were maybe a tick lower than his best stretches from last season.

The Big Change
Then, of course, the big thing happened. I remember seeing the news flash across my phone – Huerter hurt his shoulder. Pretty bad, sounded like. A dislocation and then finding out it was a torn labrum? Man, that’s tough. Needed surgery and boom, his 2024 season was basically done right there in March.
Wrapping Up My Observation
So, my whole ‘practice’ of tracking Kevin Huerter for 2024 got cut short, obviously. Didn’t get to see how he’d finish the season or perform in any potential playoff run for the Kings. My main takeaway ended up being about the injury, unfortunately. It really put a hard stop on everything for him this year.
Guess the next step is just waiting to see how the recovery goes. Watching him this season was interesting while it lasted, but yeah, that injury became the defining story for his 2024. Now we just gotta hope he comes back strong next season. That’s kinda where my tracking project ended up.
