Alright so I got this itch about John Metchie yesterday. Everybody knew he was coming out for the draft, right? But which team actually snagged him? Seemed like every other article just talked about his potential, not where he actually landed. Bugged me. I wanted the straight dope.

First thing, I dug up the official draft tracker site. Easy enough find. Scrolled, scrolled, scrolled. Draft days are long, man. My eyes started glazing over looking at all those names. Big mistake? Relying only on that one tracker.
Got impatient. Jumped over to Twitter, obviously. Searched “Metchie drafted”. Boom. Tons of tweets. But half were guesses, like “Hope the gets Metchie!”, the other half were arguing whether coming off the injury was a risk. Noise. Absolute noise. Found one guy claiming “My buddy heard it’s the Bills!” but zero proof. Useless.
Remembered he tore his ACL late in the college season. Okay, maybe teams are being cautious? That could affect when he gets picked. Went back to the draft tracker, but filtered specifically for wide receivers. Scanned the mid-rounds carefully, thinking that’s probably where he’d land given the injury. Round 2… nothing. Round 3… scrolling… Alabama players… nope. Still no Metchie.
Started doubting myself. Did he even get drafted? That felt wild. Then, clicked on a team-specific news feed for the Texans. Why them? Honestly, just a hunch; they needed WR help bad. And there it was. Buried halfway down some article updating their picks: “Houston selects John Metchie Jr…”. Finally!
To be totally thorough, I cross-checked it. Went back to the main NFL website’s official draft results. Searched “Houston Texans 2022 Draft Picks”. Scanned the list.

- Round 2, Pick 44: John Metchie Jr., WR, Alabama.
Yep. Confirmed. They took him in the second freakin’ round! All that scrolling and I missed it the first time. Felt like a dummy, but also relieved I pinned it down. Texans it is. Case closed.
