Okay, so, let’s talk about Johann Zarco. I’ve been digging into this guy’s career lately, and I figured I’d share what I’ve found. It’s pretty interesting stuff, even if you’re not a huge MotoGP fan.

So, I started by just Googling his name, you know, the usual. I found out that Zarco was born in Cannes, France, in 1990. Turns out, he didn’t start making waves in France. It was in Italy where he first got noticed, racing minimoto bikes around 2003.
Then, I moved on to his early career. In 2009, he made the jump to the 125cc World Championship. I watched some old races from back then, and man, the kid had talent! You could see he was destined for bigger things.
Fast forward a few years, and Zarco really hits his stride. I spent an afternoon reading about his Moto2 days. He won the Moto2 World Championship in 2015 and 2016. Back-to-back championships! The 2015 win was a record points total for the intermediate class. I mean, that’s impressive. Those races were intense, and he was just dominating.
MotoGP Career
Of course, I had to check out his MotoGP career. He’s with the Castrol Honda LCR team now. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, to be honest. It seems like he will ride for the LCR Honda squad in 2024. I also found out some interesting stuff about Honda’s history in MotoGP. Did you know they have the most premier class constructors’ championships? 25 of them! That’s way more than MV Agusta, which is second with 16.
- 2015: Won Moto2 World Championship
- 2016: Won Moto2 World Championship again
- 2024: Will ride for the LCR Honda squad
I also learned that the 1949 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the first ever F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship. It had six Grand Prix races in five classes. It’s crazy to think how much the sport has changed since then. I also found some random quotes about Zarco. Someone called him one of “France’s most successful riders in Grand Prix history.” That’s a pretty big compliment. Another article mentioned he was a former Red Bull Rookies Cup winner. I guess that’s where he started to shine.

And just for fun, I stumbled upon this one article about watching Fabio Quartararo win and how much fun he was having. I guess Zarco was in that race, too. These guys are going at 220mph, and it’s just another day at the office for them.
To sum it up, Johann Zarco is a talented rider. He has had ups and downs, wins and losses, but he is definitely one of the big names in motorcycle racing. I’m no expert, but from what I’ve gathered, he’s a force to be reckoned with on the track. I will keep an eye on him in the future. That’s it for my Zarco deep dive. Hope you found it as interesting as I did!
