This thing, life, you know, it ain’t always what it seems. More than what it looks, that’s for sure. Like that old well out back, looks just like a hole in the ground, but it goes way down deep, full of cold, clear water. Life’s kinda like that, too.
Folks these days, always rushing around, faces glued to them little shiny boxes. They chasing after this and that, thinking it’ll make ’em happy. New shoes, fancy cars, big houses… They think that’s all there is. But there’s more, so much more, if you just slow down and look.
- Like the sun coming up in the morning. Ain’t nothing cost more beautiful, and it’s free for everyone.
- Or the sound of the birds singing, like they ain’t got a care in the world.
- And the smell of the earth after it rains, fresh and clean.
Finding meaning, they call it. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it ain’t about big, showy things. It’s the little things, the everyday things. It is not that hard you know, just need to look around. Like helping a neighbor carry in their groceries. Or baking a pie for someone who’s feeling down. Or just sitting on the porch swing, watching the world go by.
There was this one time, I saw a little girl, no older than five, helping her mama plant seeds in the garden. She was so careful, patting the dirt down just so. And her eyes, they were shining like stars. That little girl, she understood something important. She found her mean. She was helping something grow, something beautiful. That’s what it’s all about.
More than what it looks, see? It ain’t about what you got, it’s about what you give. It ain’t about being seen, it’s about seeing others. Really seeing them, you know? And it ain’t about being loud, it’s about listening. Listening to the wind in the trees, to the crickets chirping at night, to the folks around you who need a kind word.
Some folks, they go searching for meaning in far-off places. They climb mountains, they sail across oceans. And that’s fine, I reckon. But you don’t have to go that far. Meaning is right here, all around us. It’s in the smile of a child, in the warmth of a hug, in the simple act of being kind.

What is meaning of life? I don’t know if I have all the answers. I’m just a simple woman, you know? But I think it’s about love. Loving your family, loving your friends, loving the world around you. And it’s about being grateful. Grateful for the good times and the bad, grateful for the sunshine and the rain, grateful for every single breath you take.
Sometimes, you are hard to find it. Why meaning is important? Don’t you feel empty if you don’t have it? It’s like you’re walking around in the dark, bumping into things. But when you find it, it’s like a light comes on. Suddenly, you can see where you’re going. You have a purpose.
And you don’t need to shout it from the rooftops. You don’t need to tell everyone. Just live it, you know? Live a life that’s full of love and kindness and gratitude. That’s all it is. That is the most important thing. That’s what makes life worth living. That’s the meaning we’re all looking for.
You can be just like everyone else, just one of the people, you know, and still have your own way. That’s how you find your place, your meaning, I reckon. Just be you, but be the best you can be. You don’t need to be special to have meaning. You just need to care. Care about people, care about the earth and things like that. That is how you find your own place. You are just there. More than what it looks, remember? Just like that old well out back. There’s more to everything than meets the eye. You just gotta look a little closer, that’s all.
