Okay, let me tell you about getting my shiny Lucario in Pokemon Go. It wasn’t exactly a walk in the park, let me tell ya.
Starting the Hunt
So, everyone knows Lucario looks awesome, right? But the shiny version? That gold color? Man, I knew I had to get one. The problem is, you don’t just find Lucario wandering around much. You gotta start with Riolu, its baby form. And Riolu? Mostly hatches from eggs.
This meant one thing: eggs, eggs, and more eggs. Mostly the 7km ones you get from friend gifts, and sometimes the 10km or Adventure Sync reward eggs. I started focusing hard on clearing out my egg inventory and opening gifts like crazy to get those 7km eggs. Then, the walking started.
The Incubator Grind
I popped those eggs into incubators as soon as I got ’em. Used my free one, sure, but yeah, I ended up buying some incubators too. Gotta speed things up, you know? Felt like I was walking constantly. Checking my phone all the time, seeing how close those eggs were to hatching.
- Walked during my lunch breaks.
- Took longer routes home.
- Made sure Adventure Sync was on ALL the time to catch those extra steps.
Hatched so many Riolu. A LOT. But none shiny. Got some other okay hatches, but really, I was just looking for that sparkle. It gets kinda frustrating after a while, seeing the same regular blue Riolu pop out over and over again.
Finally! That Shiny Sparkle
Then one day, finally, it happened. Another 7km egg hatched. I wasn’t even paying super close attention, kinda used to the disappointment. But then I saw it – the sparkle animation and that yellowy-gold Riolu! Yes! I couldn’t believe it, honestly. After all that grinding, there it was. Felt real good.
The Candy Challenge
But hold on, getting the shiny Riolu is only half the battle. Now I needed candies to evolve it into Lucario. 50 candies, to be exact. And Riolu isn’t exactly common, so candies aren’t easy to come by unless you hatch a ton (which I did, but still…).
So, new mission: get candies. Made my shiny Riolu my buddy immediately. Started walking again, specifically to earn those candies one kilometer at a time. It takes 5km per candy, so yeah, more walking. Dumped basically all my Rare Candies into it too. Didn’t care about saving them for anything else at that point. I wanted that shiny Lucario NOW.
Evolution Time!
Slowly, painfully slowly, the candy count went up. Walking, feeding berries to other Riolu/Lucario in gyms (if I saw them), using those Rare Candies… until finally, I hit 50.
Went straight to my Pokemon storage, found my shiny Riolu, hit that evolve button. Watching that evolution animation felt like a massive win. And there it was – my shiny Lucario. That gold and blue looks even better than I thought.
So yeah, that’s the story. Took a ton of walking, a bunch of incubators, and a heap of patience (and Rare Candies). But totally worth it. Now I just gotta power it up…
