Well, I heard folks talkin’ ’bout that Iowa and Michigan basketball game. That’s a big deal, I reckon. My grandson, he’s always yellin’ at the TV when those games are on. He sure loves his basketball. Says it’s the best sport. I don’t know much ’bout it, but it sure is excitin’ to watch those young fellers runnin’ up and down the court.

They say this Iowa v Michigan game is important. Something ’bout a big tournament. My grandson says if Iowa wins, they get to go to the big dance. Sounds silly, doesn’t it? A dance? But it means somethin’ to them. Lots of folks watchin’, I guess. It is a big ten game, after all.
I remember back in my day, we didn’t have no fancy TV. Just listened to the radio. And we didn’t have all these teams. Just the local boys playin’ against the next town over. But still, it was fun. We’d all gather ’round and cheer. Same as now, I suppose, just different.
So this Iowa v Michigan basketball game, they say it’s gonna be a real nail-biter. That means it’s gonna be close, I think. My grandson, he gets so worked up. Jumps around like a frog on a hot plate when it’s close. He says, “Grandma, this is it! This is the big one!”
That Clark girl plays for Iowa, and my grandson says she is really good. They talk about her all the time on TV. I don’t really know what’s going on, but they sure are excited.
Now, where was I? Oh yeah, this basketball game. These Iowa Hawkeyes, they gotta play real good if they wanna beat those Michigan fellers. I think they are called Wolverines? Sounds fierce, don’t it? My grandson says Michigan is tough. They got some big fellers on that team. But Iowa, they got heart, he says. And that Clark girl. She is a real firecracker, always makes those shots.

He told me you can watch the game on TV. Some channel called Big Ten Network. I don’t know what channel that is, but he sure does. He even said you can watch it on your phone or computer! Imagine that! We used to have to walk five miles to get a newspaper. Now, they got the whole world right there in their hands.
My grandson keeps talkin’ ’bout somethin’ called “streaming.” Says you can watch the Iowa v Michigan game that way. Sounds like somethin’ you do with a fishing pole. But he says it’s how you watch things on the computer. He says some folks watch it on somethin’ called Fubo. I don’t know what that is, but he says it’s free to try. Sounds like a good deal to me.
Anyways, this game is gonna be at 7 p.m. I think. Or maybe 8? My grandson told me, but I forget. He gets so excited, talks a mile a minute. Hard to keep up with him sometimes. They will play at that Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Big place. Lots of people. And it will be loud.
He says these Iowa v Michigan games are always a big deal. They played before, he said. Split the games. Means they each won one, I reckon. So this one is kinda like the tie-breaker. The one that decides who’s the best. At least for now. I don’t really know how it all works. Just know it is important to them. Especially to my grandson.
I asked him, “Why’s this game so important?” He said, “Grandma, it’s the Iowa v Michigan basketball game! It’s a big deal!” He kept sayin’ that. “Big deal, big deal.” I guess it is. Lots of folks talkin’ ’bout it. Even the old folks at the diner were talkin’ ’bout it. Sayin’ how they hope Iowa wins.

I just hope everyone has a good time. That’s what matters, right? Enjoyin’ the game. Cheerin’ for your team. Spendin’ time with family. Even if you don’t understand all the rules, like me. It doesn’t matter. These things always bring people together. And you know, that is a good thing. So I say, let them play. And that Clark girl, I hope she does good, too.
If you want to watch this basketball game, I think my grandson said it is on TV. Big Ten Network, he said. And that Fubo thing. You can ask your own grandkids. They will know all about it. This old lady, she just wants to see everyone have fun. Go Iowa! Or Michigan! Whoever wins, I hope they play good, and no one gets hurt.
