I did some digging around, and it turns out there’s actually a limited number of each unit in the game. For the 1-cost units, there are supposed to be 22 of each one. Yeah, 22. Thought it was more, right? So, if you and a bunch of other players are all going for the same 1-cost unit, your chances of finding it go way down.
I started paying more attention to what other players were building. I noticed one game, like three people were all trying to get the same unit. No wonder I was having such a hard time finding it! It’s like, the more people want a specific unit, the harder it is to get.
My Experiment
So I decided to run a little experiment. I started forcing myself to pick up units just randomly at the beginning, not really focusing on a specific comp right away. Then, as the game went on, I kept an eye on the carousel rounds.
- Round 1: Just picked up whatever, no real strategy.
- Carousel Rounds: Paid super close attention to see what units were popular and what wasn’t.
- Mid-Game: Started making decisions based on what units were less contested.
Honestly, it felt a bit weird at first, not having a set plan. But you know what? It actually started working. I was able to get 3-star 1-cost units way more easily when I focused on the ones that fewer people were going for. I even managed to snag a few 3-star 1-costs in multiple games by doing this. It was a pretty big “aha” moment for me. No more hyper rolling for that one popular 1-cost, I started looking for other options.
I realized it’s not always about forcing a specific comp. Sometimes, it’s better to be flexible and go with the flow of the game. Keep an eye on what others are doing, and make your moves based on that. And hey, maybe don’t sleep on those less popular 1-cost units. They might just surprise you!
