Okay, here we go! Here’s my take on sharing my experience with figuring out the Yamaha R3’s CC size.

Alright folks, so recently I got super curious about the Yamaha R3. I mean, I knew it was a small-ish displacement bike, but I wanted to nail down the exact CC size. I hate not knowing specifics, ya know?
First thing I did? Obvious, right? Google it! I typed in “yamaha r3 cc size” and BOOM, a bunch of websites popped up. Read a couple of articles, looked at some forum posts. Seemed like everyone was saying around 321cc. But I’m a skeptical dude, I don’t just take the internet’s word for it.
Next up, I went straight to the source. Yamaha’s official website. Navigated around a bit, found the R3 page, and started digging through the specs. Took me a minute to find it, but there it was: “Engine Displacement: 321cc”. Okay, so the internet wasn’t lying… this time.
But I still wasn’t satisfied! I wanted to see it for myself. A buddy of mine actually owns an R3, so I hit him up. Asked him if I could come over and poke around his bike. He’s a good sport, so he said sure.
Went over to his place, and started looking for any markings on the engine itself. Pop the hood, look inside, spend some time on it and FINALLY! Found a little stamp on the engine block. I needed a flashlight and had to wipe away some grime, but there it was, clear as day (after I wiped it, haha!): “321 cm³”.

CM³! That’s cubic centimeters, which is the same as CCs! Validation!
To double-check, I even used one of those online CC to cubic inch calculators just for kicks. 321cc came out to roughly 19.6 cubic inches. Just confirming everything I saw.
So there you have it. A deep dive into the Yamaha R3’s engine size. I know it’s not rocket science, but sometimes you just gotta confirm these things for yourself, right? Plus, it’s always a good excuse to hang out with a buddy and check out his bike.
- Googled “yamaha r3 cc size”
- Checked Yamaha’s official website
- Inspected a friend’s R3 engine for markings
- Used a CC to cubic inch calculator
Honestly, I’m just glad I could finally put my curiosity to rest. Now I know for sure! Maybe next I’ll try figuring out the exact horsepower… that sounds like another adventure!
