So, I decided to really watch this guy, Bella-Kotchap, play the other day. Heard some buzz, you know? Wanted to see for myself what was going on.
First thing, I had to actually find a game he was playing in. Took a bit of searching through the schedules, figured out which match to tune into. Got my setup ready, just the usual, comfy chair, screen right in front.
Getting Started
The match kicked off. Initially, I wasn’t specifically looking only at him, just getting a feel for the game. You know how it is, watch the ball, see the flow.
Then I started focusing. Okay, where is he? What’s he doing off the ball? His positioning seemed alright most times. He’s a big lad, definitely has a physical presence on the pitch. Saw him make a couple of strong challenges early on. One was pretty clean, won the ball back decisively. Impressive stuff, I thought.
The Middle Part
As the game went on, I tried to track his movements more consistently. It’s harder than it sounds, you know, the camera follows the ball mostly. But I kept an eye out. Saw him organizing the back line a bit, pointing, maybe shouting, hard to tell from the TV.
There was this one moment, the opposition broke forward quickly. Counter-attack. I watched him specifically. How did he react? He tracked back, covered the space. Didn’t dive in recklessly, which was good. Seemed quite composed under pressure, at least in that instance.

- Noticed his positioning during set pieces.
- Tried to gauge his pace when tracking back.
Later in the game, maybe around the 70th minute, there was a tricky situation. A through ball came in, kind of diagonal. He had to make a decision – step up or drop off. He went for the interception, missed it by a whisker. Could have been dangerous, but a teammate covered. Phew. It reminded me that even solid players have those moments, happens to everyone.
Final Thoughts
Finished watching the whole match. My takeaway? He’s got potential, definitely. Shows moments of real strength and good reading of the game. Still young though, you can see that sometimes. Maybe a bit raw in places, decision-making could be polished here and there. But overall, yeah, I get why people talk about him. It was interesting just focusing on one player like that for a whole game, instead of just following the ball like I usually do. Gives you a different perspective.
Definitely something I might do again with other players. Just sit down and really observe one guy’s performance from start to finish. Makes watching the game a bit different.
