Okay, so I saw this thing online about horses and their tongues, and it got me thinking. I mean, I’ve seen horses before, but I never really paid attention to their tongues. So, naturally, I had to dig deeper. This is what I did.

First, I went to my friend’s farm. He’s got a bunch of horses. I figured that was the best place to start. I spent a good few hours there, just watching the horses. And yeah, it’s true what the internet says. Horses’ tongues usually just chill in their mouths, right between their jaw bones. It’s like their tongues have their own little hammock in there. I observed about 5 horses at the beginning.
But then I noticed something weird. Some horses, not all, would stick their tongues out. Not all the time, just every now and then. And it wasn’t like they were licking anything. They’d just have their tongues hanging out, like they were trying to catch flies or something. It was kinda funny, but it also made me wonder why they do that. Then I observed 5 more, different horses.
So I did what any curious person would do: I asked my friend about it. He said it could be a bunch of things. Maybe they’re just bored, or maybe it’s a habit they picked up. But he also said it could be a sign of something more serious, like a dental problem or some kind of discomfort.
My Simple Summary:
- Saw horses, some with tongues out, some not.
- Asked my friend, got some possible reasons.
- Decided it’s worth looking into more.
I decided to go back the next day, and this time, I took notes. I watched each horse for about 30 minutes, and I wrote down every time they stuck their tongues out. I also tried to see if there was anything specific that made them do it, like a certain sound or movement. I even tried to offer them some food, and sometimes they took it with tongues hanging out.
Honestly, I didn’t find any clear answers. Some horses did it more than others, but there wasn’t any obvious pattern. It wasn’t like they were all doing it when they were hungry or when it was hot outside. It just seemed random.

But hey, that’s how it goes sometimes. You start with a simple question, and you end up with more questions than answers. I’m still curious about this whole horse tongue thing, though. Maybe I’ll do some more research, or maybe I’ll just go back to the farm and hang out with the horses some more. Who knows, maybe one of them will give me a clue.
Anyway, that’s my little adventure with horse tongues. It wasn’t exactly groundbreaking, but it was definitely interesting. And it reminded me that there’s always something new to learn, even about something as simple as a horse’s tongue.
