My eldest daughter, Honor Marie, is already 15 years old. I can’t believe how fast time flies! It seems like just yesterday I was holding her in my arms as a newborn, and now she’s a young lady. Today, I want to share my journey of raising Honor, from her early days to now, because I’ve been snapping photos all along.
I clearly remember when she was a baby. I spent countless hours taking pictures of her. I was so eager to capture every little moment, every milestone, every cute expression. I have so many photos of her first steps, her first words, her first birthday party. We started by just taking photos with our phones, you know, the usual stuff. And honestly, those early photos are a bit of a mess – blurry, poorly lit, you name it. But they’re precious to me.
As Honor grew, so did my photography skills, I guess. I started getting more into it, buying a decent camera, and even taking a few online courses. My husband, Cash, was always supportive, even though he sometimes joked that I was becoming the “paparazzi” of the family. I started to get the hang of lighting and composition, and I think my photos showed it. I captured Honor playing in the park, reading books, baking cookies with me, and doing all sorts of things that kids do. There are also tons of her with her younger sister, Haven, and her little brother, Hayes – a full album!
- I documented her first day of school, her Halloween costumes, her soccer games, and everything in between.
- I snapped photos of her with her friends, her grandparents, and our family vacations.
- She even started to get into photography herself, which was pretty cool.
Now, looking at these photos, I feel a mix of emotions. I’m so proud of the young woman Honor has become. She’s smart, funny, kind, and so much more. But I also feel a little sad that she’s not a little girl anymore. Time really does fly, doesn’t it?
Raising Honor has been the most amazing, challenging, and rewarding experience of my life. And thanks to my obsession with taking photos, I have a visual diary of it all. It was not easy, I spent a lot of time learning how to take better photos, and I’m still learning. But I’m so glad I did it. I’ve got all these memories to look back on, and they are priceless.
The Most Important Thing
Through this journey, I’ve realized that the most important thing isn’t taking perfect photos. It’s about capturing the moments, the emotions, the essence of who my daughter is. It’s about having a tangible reminder of this incredible journey we’ve been on together. And I know I’ll cherish these photos forever, and hopefully, Honor will too.
