Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with the lyrics of “Fight Song.” You know, that super catchy tune by Rachel Platten? I thought it’d be cool to really dig into the words and maybe even try to memorize them. Here’s how it went down:

First Steps: Find the Lyrics
First things first, I needed the actual lyrics. I just Googled “Fight Song lyrics” and boom, there they were. I copied them over to a simple text file on my computer. That way, I could easily read them without getting distracted by all the ads and stuff on websites.
Breaking it Down
Next, I started by reading the lyrics aloud a few times. Just to get a feel for the rhythm and how the words flow with the music. I played the song in the background, quietly, so I could match my reading pace to the actual singing.
Chunking and Repetition
- I broke the song down into smaller chunks. Like, first the verse, then the pre-chorus, then the chorus. Made it seem way less intimidating.
- I focused on one chunk at a time. Read it, repeated it, read it again, tried saying it without looking. You know, the usual drill.
- For the trickier parts, I wrote them out by hand a couple of times. Something about writing it down really helps it stick in my brain.
Listening Actively
While doing all this, I also listened to the song a bunch more times. But like, really listened. Paying attention to how Rachel Platten pronounced certain words, where she took breaths, all that good stuff. It made a big difference in getting the phrasing right.
Sing It Out!
Of Couse, I also have to sing this song, loudly, in order to really memorize it.

Putting it All Together
After working on each section separately, I tried putting it all together. It wasn’t perfect at first, of course. I stumbled over a few lines, forgot some words here and there. But with each try, it got smoother and smoother.!
It’s a satifying practice.
