Alright, so everyone’s been talking about Pokemon TCG Pocket, and I finally jumped in a while back. Got the app, started ripping digital packs, you know, the usual drill. Building decks, battling a bit. It was fun, yeah, but then I stumbled onto something a bit… different. Something they don’t really advertise.

My First Brush with the “Secrets”
I was just messing around one day, waiting for a match or something. I remember just tapping on my player avatar, like, over and over. Not for any reason, just fidgeting. Suddenly, a little notification popped up! Something like “Persistent Pokefan!” and I got a few extra in-game coins. I was like, “Huh? What was that?” Checked the daily missions, the achievements – nothing. It wasn’t listed anywhere. That’s when I figured, there must be more of these little hidden things.
The Great “Secret Mission” Hunt
So, I started experimenting. Like, a lot. I tried all sorts of weird stuff. My process went something like this:
- I tapped on every single interactable element on every screen. Like, repeatedly. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow. You’d be surprised how much stuff you can tap.
- I tried specific sequences of actions. Maybe opening the shop, then my collection, then trying to start a battle? Yeah, mostly nothing.
- Played matches in weird ways. Used only basic Pokemon. Tried to win by decking out my opponent, even if it was super inefficient. Filled my bench with just one type of Pokemon.
- I even tried to lose spectacularly, just to see if the game pitied me with a secret “participation trophy” mission. No dice on that one, thankfully.
It was a lot of trial and error, man. Most of the time, absolutely nothing happened. Just me looking like a crazy person tapping my phone screen. But then, every now and then, another little thing would trigger!
Little Victories and Theories
I remember one time, I changed my card sleeves and deck box to match my avatar’s outfit. Silly, right? Boom! Another tiny reward. “Stylish Trainer!” or some cheesy line like that. Another time, I think I viewed the same rare card in my collection for like, a full minute, zooming in and out. Got a small bonus for “Card Appreciation.”
These aren’t huge, game-breaking missions with massive rewards. We’re talking a small handful of coins, maybe a crafting material I didn’t even know I needed. But it’s the thrill of discovery, you know? It feels like I’m unearthing parts of the game the developers tucked away.

My theory is that these “secret missions” are small, often one-time triggers, or maybe some reset daily or weekly, but they’re not tracked in any visible way. You just gotta stumble upon them. Or, well, actively hunt for them like I’ve been doing.
Still Digging
So, yeah, that’s been my little side project in Pokemon TCG Pocket. Forget climbing the ranked ladder for a bit; I’m more interested in poking every corner of this app to see what falls out. It’s a bit tedious sometimes, but when you find one, it’s a nice little surprise. Makes the game feel a bit more alive, like there’s always something new to find if you look hard enough. Still got a long list of weird ideas to try out.
