Easy Guide to Wilds of Eldraine Signpost Uncommons.(Get Good Cards Cheap)

Okay, so I was digging into this whole “Wilds of Eldraine signpost uncommons” thing, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a ride. I wanted to get a better handle on the draft environment for this set, and I heard these signpost uncommons were key. So, I started by, well, just looking at them.

First, I pulled up a list of all the uncommons in the set. I used…you know… one of those card database sites. I made sure to set the filter to “Wilds of Eldraine” and “Uncommon”. I wanted to have them all in front of me.

Sussed out the Archetypes

Then, I went through each color pair, one by one. I read each of the gold uncommons for each pair, trying to figure out what each pair was trying to do. Some were pretty obvious, like the Red/White one that screamed “celebration”. Others took a bit more thinking. I made some notes.

  • Red/White: Celebration, go wide, trigger multiple times a turn.
  • Blue/Black: Faeries, control, draw cards, mess with the opponent.
  • Green/White: Enchantments! Auras and Roles everywhere.
  • and other…

I spent a good chunk of time just pondering these. I’d go back and forth, looking at the common removal and creatures in each color to see how well they supported the themes.I jotted down which color pairs seemed to have the most support, and which ones looked a little shaky.

Practice with Draft Simulators

I figured the best way to really get a feel for it was to do some practice drafts. I used a draft simulator…you know, the one where you can draft against bots. I tried to prioritize the signpost uncommons when I saw them, just to see how the decks would come together.I must tell you, it’s really amazing for pratice.

My first few drafts were a mess, honestly. I’d end up with a pile of cards that didn’t quite work. But I started to get a feel for which uncommons were really powerful, and which ones were traps. I learned that even if an uncommon is a “signpost”, it doesn’t mean it’s always the best pick. Sometimes you just need a solid creature or a removal spell.I kept making notes after each draft, adjusting my initial thoughts on each archetype.

Summarize the Findings

After a bunch of drafts, I felt like I had a decent grasp on * the I could make a summary for this pratice.I could start building actual decks with these ideas in mind, I think I’d be in pretty good shape. It’s still early in the format, though, so I’m sure things will change as people figure out more tricks and combos!
