Dodgers Colors Blue: The psychology behind Dodgers blue color.

Okay, so today I’m gonna walk you through how I messed around with the Dodger’s colors, specifically that iconic blue. It was a fun little side project, and I learned a thing or two along the way.

Dodgers Colors Blue: The psychology behind Dodgers blue color.

First things first, I grabbed a bunch of images of the Dodgers – players, logos, stadiums, you name it. I wanted a good range of blues to work with. I used a simple image search and just downloaded a bunch that caught my eye. Nothing fancy.

Next, I fired up my image editing software. I use GIMP, it’s free and does the job. I opened each image and used the color picker tool to sample different shades of blue. I wrote down the hex codes for each one. I ended up with a list of like, ten different blues. They all looked pretty similar, but there were subtle differences.

Then came the fun part. I wanted to see how these blues looked on different things. So, I found a plain white background image and started experimenting. I created squares of each blue color and arranged them side-by-side. It was interesting to see how they compared next to each other.

After that, I got a bit more creative. I found a photo of a baseball cap online and used the color replace tool to change the cap’s color to each of my Dodger blue shades. I also did this with a simple text graphic, just the word “Dodgers” in a plain font. Seeing the colors applied to different objects really helped me understand how they worked.

I also tried mixing the different blue hex codes together in different proportions to see if I could create a new dodger blue. That was a bit of a flop, they all looked the same!

Finally, I put all my findings into a simple document. I included the original images, the hex codes, and the variations I created. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s a good reference for me. I then went and created a simple website using those colors and some dodgeball images for a friend. I’ve also created a simple poster for my office.

It was a fun little project that helped me appreciate the subtle nuances of color. And hey, now I know way more about Dodger blue than I ever thought I would!
