Discover the Mission for a Scout NYT: A Quick Guide to Their Important Work!

I started thinking about what a scout does. They go out, look around, gather information, right? Kind of like a little investigation. I scratched my head a few times, trying to figure it out.

Here’s how I cracked it:

  • I jotted down some words that came to mind when I think of a scout’s mission. Stuff like “explore,” “investigate,” “observe,” you know, words that kinda fit the bill.
  • Then I looked at the clue again. “Mission for a scout, for short.” That “for short” part was important. It meant I was looking for an abbreviation, a shorter version of a word or phrase.
  • I went back to my list of words and tried to think of abbreviations or shorter terms related to them. I mumbled the words a few times.
  • And then it hit me! “Recon.” It’s short for “reconnaissance.” That’s exactly what a scout does – they do reconnaissance!

So, I filled in RECON in the puzzle, and bam, it was the right answer! It’s funny how these little puzzles can make you think, but it’s always a good feeling when you figure them out.

I just wanted to share my little adventure with this crossword clue. It wasn’t a big deal, but it was a fun little challenge. Sometimes the simplest things can be the most satisfying to solve, right? Well, that’s how I got “RECON” for “Mission for a scout, for short” in today’s NYT Mini Crossword. It made me feel pretty accomplished, like I was on a mission for a scout myself! The date is September 27, 2024, in case you were wondering.

I also saw a funny fact today: “William TAFT, the 27th president, said of himself, in 1912, ‘No one candidate was ever elected ex-president by such a large majority.’” I just thought I would share it here. Another clue is “Alternative to Yahoo! or AOL,” which is “MSN.” Also, I found out that if a clue is in quotes, it might be something said in spoken language. These are some interesting things I discovered while doing my crossword today.
