Davis Race Results & Photos: Check Your Finish Time Here

Okay, so today I tried out this “Davis Race” thing. Let me tell you, it was a whole experience. I’m not even a super active person, but I figured, why not?

First, I had to, you know, actually find out where this race was happening. It took some searching, honestly, the information I had was a little bit vague. I think that’s kind of information that has some mistake, maybe. Eventually, I managed to get a clear answer for that.

Then came the whole registration process. Filled out the online forms, paid the fee, the usual stuff. I was actually kinda surprised there was even a fee, I thought it was gonna be more of a casual, show-up-and-run type deal. But hey, gotta cover those costs somehow, right?

The Training(kind of)

Now, I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t exactly train for this. My “training” consisted of, uh, walking to the fridge a few extra times a day. I figured, it’s just a fun run, how hard could it be? (Spoiler alert: I might have underestimated it a bit.)

Race Day!

So, race day rolls around. I showed up, feeling pretty good, got my number pinned on, and joined the crowd of people at the starting line. There were some serious looking runners there, all stretched out and ready to go. Me? I was just trying not to trip over my own feet.

The starting gun went off (or was it a whistle? I don’t even remember), and we were off! Everyone bolted ahead, and I was like, “Okay, pace yourself, pace yourself.” I tried to keep a steady jog, but my lungs started burning pretty quickly. Note to self: next time, maybe actually run a few times before the race.

The course itself was… interesting. I felt hard to finish * were people cheering along the way, which was nice. It definitely helped me keep going, even when I felt like my legs were gonna give out.

I finally crossed the finish line, sweaty and exhausted, but feeling pretty accomplished. I definitely wasn’t the fastest, not even close, but I finished! And that’s what counts, right? I even got a participation medal. it’s pretty cool!

So, that’s my Davis Race adventure. Would I do it again? Maybe. If I actually train next time. Or maybe I’ll just stick to cheering from the sidelines. We’ll see.
