Alright, I told myself, this season, I’m getting a proper Salah Liverpool jersey. You’d think it would be a simple thing, right? Just hop online, a few clicks, and boom, jersey at your door. Well, let me tell you, it wasn’t quite like that. Not at all.
First place I went, obviously, was the official Liverpool club website. Logged on, full of hope. Typed in “Salah jersey.” What did I find? Sold out. Every single time I checked. Morning, noon, night. Didn’t matter. Just that frustrating “notify me when back in stock” button. I swear, clicking that thing felt like sending a message in a bottle into the ocean.
Okay, I thought, no big deal. Plenty of other places sell them. So I started hitting up all the big sports retailers online. You know the ones. Same story, pretty much. Either completely out of stock for Mo Salah in a size that would actually fit a grown man, or they’d have the away kit, or the third kit, or some goalkeeper’s jersey from three seasons ago. Not what I was after. I wanted that red, Salah on the back, proper home kit.
Then you start seeing those other websites. The ones where the prices are just a bit too good. You know? And the pictures look alright, but there’s that little doubt in your mind. Is it real? Is it gonna fall apart after one wash? I was tempted, I won’t lie. When you’re getting desperate, you start considering things. But man, I really wanted the genuine article. For Salah, you gotta have the real deal.
I even toyed with the idea of trying a physical store in a big city. But then you hear the stories, don’t you? People queuing for hours, stock vanishing in minutes. Honestly, who has the time or energy for that kind of battle? It felt like trying to get concert tickets for a superstar.
Just when I was about to give up hope…
I was properly fed up. Close to just saying, “Forget it.” I’d just keep wearing my old Mane jersey. It’s a good one, still got life in it, but it’s not Mo, is it? I’d pretty much resigned myself to another season without the new Salah kit.
Then, completely out of the blue, I get a message from my cousin. He’s on holiday, not even in the UK. Just wandering through some random shopping mall, looking for souvenirs or something. And what does he stumble upon, tucked away at the back of a rail in some sports shop I’d never even heard of? Yep. One single, solitary, beautiful red Liverpool home jersey. With SALAH 11 on the back. And get this – it was my size.
He grabbed it straight away, sent me a picture. I couldn’t believe my luck. After all that searching, all the refreshing web pages, all the “sold out” messages, it just turns up like that, in the most unexpected place. When he got back and I finally got my hands on it, it felt amazing. Like I’d actually achieved something, you know? All that fuss, but yeah, holding it, it felt pretty good. A proper win, that was.
It’s crazy, though, isn’t it? How tricky they make it for you to just buy a football shirt. You’d think they’d want to take your money. But hey, I got it in the end. That’s the main thing. Up the Reds!
