So I finally decided to tackle that Challenge Duel mode everyone’s been talking about. Booted up the game yesterday afternoon, grabbed my controller and some snacks, ready to figure out what makes this mode special.

First Attempt Disaster
Jumped straight into a match thinking it’d be like normal battles. Boy was I wrong! Got absolutely destroyed in like 90 seconds flat. My character kept doing weird slow-motion moves while the opponent zipped around like lightning. Dropped my controller laughing when my super attack completely missed because I charged it too long.
Watching Replays Like a Detective
After that humiliation, I spent an hour studying my loss replays. Noticed three big things:
- Stamina matters way more – Sprinting drains it crazy fast
- Perfect blocks give free counters – opponent kept doing this
- Special moves charge slower – gotta time them better
Took notes on my phone like I was preparing for a school exam.
Practice Mode Grind
Set up custom matches against AI with limited stamina rules. Focused entirely on two things:
- Blocking right when attack sparks appear
- Quick tap-dash instead of holding sprint
Burnt through like 20 matches just practicing those mechanics. Messed up so many times my thumbs got sore, but started landing those sweet counter attacks consistently around match 15.
The Rematch
Hopped back into real matches around dinner time. First few were still shaky – old habits die hard. But then something clicked! Won three matches in a row by:
- Baiting with fake dashes
- Saving specials for guaranteed hits
- Stopping sprint to recover stamina
Felt amazing seeing those “victory” screens after getting stomped earlier. Ended up playing till midnight!
Big Takeaways
If you’re trying this mode, remember:
- Forget regular battle instincts
- Patience beats button mashing
- Watch your own replays – cringe but effective
Still got lots to learn, but man that progress feeling is addictive. Gonna grind more tonight!
