Okay, so I’ve been messing around with college football betting for a while now, and I gotta say, today was a bit of a rollercoaster. I decided to focus on the DFS (Daily Fantasy Sports) side of things, specifically the “picks” format. Here’s how it all went down.

First thing I did was wake up, grab some coffee, and start doing some, like, really deep research. Okay, maybe not that deep. I mostly checked out a few websites, looked at some injury reports, and scrolled through Twitter – you know, the usual. I was trying to get a feel for which players were expected to have big games.
Then I hopped onto the platform I use (I’m not gonna name-drop, not trying to advertise here). I started looking at the player salaries. The whole point of DFS picks is to build a lineup of players while staying under a certain salary cap. It’s like a puzzle, trying to find the best value for each position.
My strategy was pretty simple:
- Find a couple of stud quarterbacks. I figured, even if they’re expensive, they’re usually a good bet for a lot of points.
- Look for some undervalued running backs. Maybe guys who were going up against weak defenses, or who were getting more playing time because of injuries.
- Grab a few wide receivers who had good matchups. I was looking for guys who were known for getting a lot of targets, or who were playing against teams with shaky secondaries.
- Fill that last spot. Find a cheap player that can easily get some points.
Building My Lineup
I spent a good chunk of the afternoon tweaking my lineup. Swapping guys in and out, trying to find the perfect balance of high-scoring potential and affordability. It’s actually kinda fun, like a mini-game in itself.
I ended up going with a quarterback who’s been on fire lately, even though he cost a pretty penny. I paired him with a running back who was facing a team that’s been terrible against the run all season. For receivers, I went with one big-name guy and a couple of lesser-known players who I thought had good upside.

Once I had my lineup set, I just had to wait. That’s the hardest part, honestly. You’ve done all your research, made your picks, and now you’re just at the mercy of the football gods.
I watched the games, and it was a mixed bag. My quarterback did pretty well, thankfully. One of my running backs had a monster game, which was awesome. But one of my receivers totally laid an egg – like, barely any catches. It happens.
In the end, I didn’t win big, but I didn’t lose big either. I ended up somewhere in the middle of the pack. Which, you know, for a day of messing around with college football picks, I’ll take it. It’s all about having fun, and maybe winning a little bit of money along the way, right?
I will keep trying different methods every day until I hit a big one. This one I will count it as a learning process, tomorrow, let’s do it again!
