Man, I knew tonight’s Cavs vs Wizards game would be wild when I saw the matchup. Rushed home after work, grabbed some cold ones, plopped on the couch right before tip-off. Legit almost spilled my beer tryna turn on the TV fast enough.
Early game felt rough
First quarter? Total rollercoaster. Cavs started slow, real slow. Saw Poole hit a couple threes early for the Wizards and thought “oh boy, here we go again.” Scoreboard showed Wizards up by 5 halfway through Q2. Felt kinda tense, ngl. Kept yelling at Garland to drive more instead of settling for jumpers. Kid’s too quick for that!
- Poole was cooking early – dude hit like three step-backs in a row
- Mobley kept getting hacked inside, no whistle (typical)
- Mitchell looked frustrated – missed two wide-open threes
Third quarter fireworks
Then BAM! Outta nowhere Mitchell flips a switch. Last three minutes of Q3? Pure insanity. Wizards were clinging to a tiny lead when Spida said “nope.” He drops FIVE straight points – a pull-up J, then a steal leading to an and-1 layup. Crowd lost it. My dog jumped off the couch barking. Cavs suddenly led 94-93 going into fourth. Texted my buddy “Mitchell ain’t human rn.”
Fourth quarter? Pure guts. Cavs pushed hard early with a 7-0 run. Jerome hits a sneaky floater to make it a nine-point game, then Mobley just EMBARRASSED somebody with a putback dunk. Roof blew off the arena. Meanwhile Poole kept firing – dude ended with 45 points! But felt like the Wizards were gassed trying to keep up.
- Allen snagged EVERY rebound down the stretch – 12 boards total
- Strus hit a dagger corner three with 90 seconds left
- Poole’s last three shots all clanked (ran outta gas I guess)
Final buzzer vibes
When that horn sounded Cavs won 134-124? Felt so dang satisfying. Mitchell finished with 33 points, looked chill as ever walking off. Mobley’s 27 points saved our bacon too. Best part? Seeing the team actually CLOSE a game strong for once. Last month they’d have blown that lead. Progress, baby!
Gotta say though – Poole dropping 45 on us was scary good. If that kid ever gets consistent? League’s in trouble. Anyway, beer’s empty and I need sleep. Big win tonight. Cavs look legit dangerous when they play like this.
