Cancun in June Travel Tips: What to Expect & How to Prepare

Okay, so I decided to hit up Cancun in June. I’d heard mixed things, you know? Some people were all like, “It’s gonna be SO hot and humid!” and others were like, “Nah, it’s fine, just go!” So, I figured, why not? Let’s do this.

Cancun in June Travel Tips: What to Expect & How to Prepare

First thing I did was book the flights and the hotel. I spent a good chunk of time, like, a solid evening, scrolling through different websites, comparing prices, and reading reviews. I ended up going with a package deal because, honestly, it just seemed easier. Plus, I’m all about convenience.

Packing!

Packing was…well, it was packing. I knew it was going to be hot, so I mostly packed light clothes: shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, a couple of sundresses. And, of course, swimsuits. Like, a lot of swimsuits. Because, Cancun.

I also made sure to pack a ton of sunscreen. Seriously, I cannot stress this enough. The sun down there is no joke. I went with SPF 50, and I’m glad I did. I also threw in a hat and some sunglasses, because, again, the sun. I’m not trying to get fried.

The Trip Itself

Getting there was pretty smooth. The flight was uneventful, which is always a good thing. Once we landed and got to the hotel, it was straight to the pool. I mean, that’s what you do in Cancun, right?

The first few days were a blur of swimming, eating, and just generally relaxing. The water was amazing, so clear and blue. I spent hours just floating around. And the food? Don’t even get me started. So many tacos. So much guacamole. It was heaven.

I did a couple of excursions, too. One day, I went to see some Mayan ruins. It was really cool, but also super hot. I was sweating buckets, but it was worth it to see something so historical. I also did a snorkeling trip. Saw some colorful fish, which was pretty neat. It was my first time snorkeling and to be honest, I think I wanna try scuba diving next time.

The Heat and Humidity

Okay, so everyone who warned me about the heat and humidity? They weren’t wrong. It was definitely intense. But, honestly, it wasn’t unbearable. I just made sure to drink lots of water, stay in the shade when I could, and take advantage of the air conditioning in the hotel room. I learned very quickly to not do anything strenuous in the middle of the day!

The Verdict?

Overall, I had a great time. It was a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Would I go to Cancun in June again? Yeah, I think I would. I might try to go a little earlier in the month, maybe, just to see if the humidity is a bit lower. But, all in all, it was a fantastic trip. 10/10, would recommend, just remember that sunscreen and plenty of water!
