Breaking Down Bowl Projections: Teams on the Rise and Fall

Well, let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout them bowl projections, or whatever them city folks call ’em. It’s like this, see? Them college football teams, they play all season long, bashin’ and crashin’ into each other like a buncha’ bulls in a china shop. And then, if they’re good enough, they get to go to one of them fancy bowl games. Bowl Projections, that’s what they are talking about.

Now, how they figure out who goes where, that’s a whole ‘nother story. It ain’t as simple as winnin’ all your games, no sirree. They got all these rules and rankings and whatnot. They talk about winnin’ seven games or bein’ in the top 25 or somethin’. Sounds like a whole lotta’ mumbo jumbo to me, if ya ask me.

  • First, they got this here “CFP Selection Committee”, sounds real important, don’t it? They pick the top four teams to play in them big semi-final games. I heard they callin’ ’em the Fiesta Bowl and the Peach Bowl this year. Fancy names for football games, I tell ya.
  • Then, they got them other bowls, like the Sugar Bowl, the Rose Bowl, and the Orange Bowl. Them ones, they gotta take teams from certain conferences, like the SEC or somethin’. It’s all part of some agreement, they say. Sounds like a buncha’ backroom deals to me.

And then there’s all these other bowls, like the Citrus Bowl, and that Hawaii Bowl. Seems like there’s a bowl game for just about every team these days. They say it’s “diminished”, whatever that means. Probably too many games now, if you ask me. Back in my day, we had one championship game and that was it!

Anyways, these fellas who write for the “Sporting News”, they try to guess who’s gonna go where. They call ’em “bowl projections.” They look at who’s won, who’s lost, and who’s ranked where, and they try to match ’em up. College Football Bowl Projections are a big deal, seems like everyone is always talking about them.

They even got folks talkin’ about teams like the Texas Longhorns and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Big names, those are. I remember hearin’ about them Longhorns way back when. Always been a tough team, them fellas.

And they got these games on all sorts of days. Like, they got one on December 31st, the Fiesta Bowl. They sayin’ Boise State might play Penn State. That’d be a good one, I reckon. Lots of runnin’ and hittin’ in that game, I betcha.

But here’s the thing, see? Sometimes, them projections, they ain’t worth a hill of beans. ‘Cause things change, see? Teams have a bad game, or somebody gets hurt, or there’s some big upset. Like, just last weekend, there was a whole bunch of upsets, they said. That throws everything outta’ whack. Then them fellas gotta go back to the drawin’ board and start all over again.

This year they are gonna have a new playoff thing, with 12 teams and all. Heard they gonna announce the teams on December 8th. That’s somethin’ new, ain’t it? Always changin’ things up, these fellas. Can’t ever just leave well enough alone.

And then there’s the talk about who the Citrus Bowl will get. They sayin’ it’ll be a top 15 SEC team, maybe even Alabama. Them Alabama boys, they always got a good team, seems like. Tough as nails, them fellas are.

So, that’s the lowdown on them bowl projections, as best as I can figure it. It’s a whole lotta’ guessin’ and figurin’, and in the end, nobody really knows for sure till them teams are on the field. But it gives folks somethin’ to talk about, I guess. And that’s somethin’, ain’t it? Bowl projections and the playoffs, it’s all just a big ol’ puzzle, tryin’ to figure out who’s the best. And that’s what makes it excitin’, I reckon.

But don’t you go bettin’ the farm on any of them projections, ya hear? ‘Cause like I said, things change. And sometimes, the team that nobody expects, they’re the ones that come out on top. That’s the beauty of football, ain’t it? Anything can happen.
