Today, I wanna talk about that big brown horse I bought a while back. It wasn’t easy, but let me tell you, it was worth it.
First off, finding the right horse was a real journey. I spent weeks checking out different places, from local farms to online listings. I mean, I really scoured the internet. There were so many horses, but I knew I wanted a big brown one. Sounds simple, right? But it took some doing.
I visited a bunch of farms, met a lot of horses. Some were too small, some too old, some just didn’t feel right. Then I found this website, something like “Dream Horse” or whatever, and they had a ton of listings. I narrowed it down to brown mares, ’cause that’s what I was after.
Found this one beauty, a Quarter Horse, looked perfect in the pictures. So I called up the owner and drove out to see her. She was even better in person, all big and strong with this shiny brown coat.
Now, let’s talk about the price. Horses ain’t cheap, especially the good ones. They said a good brown horse could cost around 1 to 1.5 lakhs, and in the UK where i lived , well-trained ones can go for like £15,000 or even more! This one wasn’t that much, but it still set me back a bit. And that’s not even counting the upkeep. Feeding a horse is way different than feeding a dog, let me tell you.
After some back and forth, we struck a deal. I paid the money, and she was mine. Bringing her home was another adventure. Had to rent a trailer, get her loaded up, which wasn’t easy, and drive her back to my place.
Settling In
- Getting her used to the new place took some time.
- She was a bit skittish at first, but we took it slow.
- Lots of grooming, feeding, just spending time with her.
Now, she’s settled in just fine. We go on rides, work on training, she is really beautiful, you know. It’s a lot of work, but seeing her happy and healthy makes it all worthwhile. Having a horse is a big responsibility, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.
So yeah, that’s the story of my big brown horse. A lot of searching, a bit of spending, and a whole lot of love. It’s been a great experience, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
