Alright, so I finally dived into this whole “vivariums in Hogwarts Legacy” thing. I’d seen some buzz about it online, and figured I’d give it a shot. Let me tell you, it’s pretty cool, but it took me a bit to get the hang of it.

Getting Started
First, I had to actually unlock the vivariums. You know, progress in the main story enough. That took a little while, but I wasn’t just rushing through – I was enjoying exploring and doing side quests. I made sure to do some of deek quests, that little guy is a joy and I wanted to see him as soon as possible.
Once I got access, Deek gave me the Nab-Sack. My first thought was, “Okay, so now I just run around and catch magical creatures? Easy peasy.” Not so fast.
The Catching Process
Catching these beasts isn’t like throwing a regular old Poké Ball. I learned that the hard way. I started with a Puffskein, thinking it looked harmless enough. I kept spamming the button, wondering why it wasn’t working. Then I realized you have to, like, actually time it and use other spells to control them. I got blasted by a Jobberknoll a few times before I figured out you could use Levioso to slow them down. It was a whole process of trial and error, dodging attacks, and figuring out the right spell combos. Fumble fingers. Don’t give up.
Setting Up My First Vivarium
After finally managing to snag a few creatures (a Puffskein, a Jobberknoll, and a Mooncalf – so cute!), I headed back to my first vivarium. Deek showed me the basics, but I wanted to make it my own.
I started placing the feeding stations and toy boxes. That part was pretty straightforward. Then I got into the decorating. I spent way too long trying to arrange rocks and plants just right. I wanted a cozy, natural-looking habitat, not just a random collection of stuff.

I learned a few usefull things:
- Interact: You’ll need to feed and brush your magical beasts.
- Collect Resources: Interact with the beast that live in your vivarium to gather resources.
Breeding and Beyond
I haven’t gotten too deep into breeding yet, but I did manage to breed a couple of Puffskeins. Seeing the little baby Puffskein roll around was totally worth the effort. It’s like a whole new level of the game. I’m planning on creating separate vivariums for different types of creatures, maybe even trying to get some of the rarer ones. That’s going to take some serious exploring, though.
I used one of the four different biomes, it was the one that looks like a beach and it was beautiful.
My Overall Thoughts
So, yeah, the vivariums in Hogwarts Legacy? Definitely more involved than I initially thought, but in a good way. It’s like having a little magical creature sanctuary that you can customize and manage. It’s a nice break from all the intense spell-slinging and questing, and it adds another layer of depth to the game. I’m definitely hooked, and I can’t wait to see what other creatures I can collect and what kind of awesome habitats I can create.
