Starting My Goal Celebration Journey
So today I decided to actually learn some cool goal celebrations instead of just doing my usual boring finger point. Yeah you know that one, where I awkwardly point somewhere? So freaking old. Saw a tweet with a killer knee-slide and thought “damn I gotta learn that.”

First thing? Watched a ton of compilations on YouTube. Didn’t just skim though, really paid attention. Noticed three moves popping up again and again:
- The knee-slide (obviously)
- That iconic CR7 “Siuuu” jump with the spin
- The calm, cold “I meant to do that” arms-outstretched walk
Practicing Like I Actually Meant It
Okay, time to get moving. Went straight to my backyard grass patch – carpet or hardwood inside? No way, sliding equals disaster waiting to happen.
Tried the knee-slide first. Massive mistake. Went all in on speed like I was Mo Salah breaking away. First attempt? Face almost ate dirt. Legs went sideways, hands flailed like crazy. Total fail. Realized quick: you gotta lean back way more than feels natural. Like, lean back until you feel kinda stupid leaning so far back. Second try? Still crashed but stayed upright-ish. Progress!
Next up, the CR7 spin jump. Thought “how hard can jumping and spinning be?” Turns out, really freaking hard. Tried just the jump without the spin – landed like a sack of potatoes. Added the spin? Barely got off the ground and got dizzy as hell. Broke it down: Jump straight up, THEN twist mid-air. Took like twenty tries to stop stumbling on landing. Even then, looked nothing like the real deal.
Saved the “cool walk” for last. Seemed easiest. Just walk slow with arms out, right? Wrong. Either walked too fast looking like I needed the bathroom, or moved so slow it got weird. Forced myself to freeze in that arms-out pose for three whole seconds. Felt super awkward! But the key is commitment, so I kept doing it till it felt less cringy.
Putting It All Together (Almost)
After maybe an hour feeling like a weirdo in my backyard:
- Knee-slide: Can finally do a short one without faceplanting. Leaning back IS key.
- CR7 Spin Jump: Jump’s okay, spin’s clunky, landing still wobbly. Not ready for the cameras.
- Cool Walk: Actually got this down! Slow walk, arms wide, hold it. Looks chill if I say so myself.
Biggest lesson? Knee-slides hurt your pants! Grass stains on the knees are real. And that spin jump? Wipes you out fast. Maybe pick your moment in a real game.
Honestly? Expected to learn it all in ten minutes. Reality smacked me hard. Takes way more tries than Insta reels show. But hey, I can now slide a few feet and not break anything. Plus that walk looks legit cool in the mirror. Calling that a win. Still won’t try the spin jump at Sunday league anytime soon though!
