My Messy Journey to Find the Fastest Flyers
Alright, so today I really wanted to figure out which Pal actually zooms across the map the fastest. Saw some wild claims online, decided I had to test it myself. Started simple, you know?
First thing I did was grab my Nitewing. It’s the first flying mount most folks get, right? Took off from my base near the starting plateau and flew straight to that big desert ruins marker on the map. Hit the stopwatch on my phone. Felt… okay? Not amazing. Landed, checked the time.
Then I thought, “Okay, Vanwyrm looks cooler, gotta be faster!” Fed it the saddle, hopped on. Same route. Start, stopwatch, fly. It definitely felt a bit quicker than Nitewing, less like dragging through mud. Landed, timer looked better.
Kept hearing folks rave about Ragnahawk. Took me ages to find one strong enough and make its saddle, but finally got it. Super pumped! Mounted up, same flight path again. Whoa! This felt different. Like, actually fast. Could feel the wind rushing. Timer confirmed it – way shaved off the previous times. Got excited!
But then I remembered this one I caught ages ago and forgot about: Faleris. Had it sitting in the box. Crafted its saddle – materials weren’t too bad. Took it for the same exact desert ruins run. Holy moly. My jaw dropped. It absolutely left Ragnahawk in the dust! Blinked and I was practically there. Had to check the timer like three times because it felt stupid quick. Clearly faster.
Got curious about other options though. Tried Quivern? Nope. Felt slow, heavy. Like riding a flying brick. Helzephyr? Cool ghost bird, honestly not terrible, but just doesn’t hit the same zoom as Faleris or Ragnahawk. Frostallion? Beautiful, majestic even. Super strong for fighting, sure, but for pure point A to point B speed? Nah, didn’t impress. Jetragon? Yeah yeah, end-game legend. Looks like a fighter jet, sounds awesome. Haven’t caught it yet, folks say it’s the fastest. Need more firepower before I even try tackling that beast! Can’t test what I don’t have, right?
So after all that flying back and forth, timers starting, stopping, almost running out of stamina a few times (total waste of time reloading!), here’s what my stupid little experiment actually showed:
- For early game: Forget Nitewing speed dreams. Push for Vanwyrm if you can find it, or even better, hunt down a Ragnahawk.
- Mid-game speed demon: Faleris. Seriously, blew me away how much faster it was than Ragnahawk for crossing huge distances. Feels like the sweet spot before the crazy legends.
- Cool but not Speedy: Frostallion, Helzephyr, Quivern. Might be useful or look epic, but for pure zoom, they aren’t it. Save yourself the saddle mats unless you just want ’em.
- The Big Unknown: Jetragon. Haven’t tamed it, but the rumor mill says it sets the bar. Need to build an arsenal before finding out for sure!
Bottom line? Skip the fancy legendary unless you’ve got the gear to catch it. For actually covering ground fast, right now, Faleris is the winner in my book based on what I tested. Ragnahawk is a solid second. Vanwyrm if you’re stuck early. That Nitewing? Never gonna use that slow dinosaur again for travel, that’s for sure. Time saved flying around is game changing!
