Basketball Olympics Stats: Everything You Need to Know About the Game and Players Performance

Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another one of my little projects. This time, I got really into the basketball stats from the Olympics. You know, it’s one of those things that just grabs you, right? Especially with the 2024 Paris Olympics coming up, I figured it was the perfect time to dive in.

Basketball Olympics Stats: Everything You Need to Know About the Game and Players Performance

So, first off, I started digging around for anything I could find on Olympic basketball. I mean, the USA has dominated for years! Seriously, the men’s team has like 17 gold medals. That’s insane! They were unbeatable from 1936 to 1968. And the women? They’ve got 10 golds, and they haven’t lost since ’96 in Atlanta.

Then, I got curious about individual players. You hear about guys like LeBron, Steph Curry, and KD, right? But, I wanted to see the numbers. It turns out, KD is the top scorer in Olympic history, for both men and women. He’s got 518 points! That’s wild.

Next, I tried to find where I could get all these stats in one place. I found some decent sites that list player stats, game scores, and historical data. I was clicking through player pages, checking out their game logs, and comparing their stats.

After that, I looked into the 2024 Olympics. I saw that they’ve got a similar format to the World Cup, with 12 countries split into three groups. It’s gonna be packed with NBA stars and international talent. I even found out the basketball events are happening from July 27 to August 10.

I also learned that basketball was one of the most-watched sports in the last Olympics, along with gymnastics and swimming. No surprise there!

To keep track of everything, I made a simple list:

  • USA Men’s Gold Medals: 17
  • USA Women’s Gold Medals: 10
  • Top Scorer: Kevin Durant (518 points)
  • 2024 Olympics Dates: July 27 – August 10
  • Tournament Format: 12 countries, 3 groups

Man, it took some time to put it all together, but it was worth it. Now I’ve got a better understanding of Olympic basketball history and what to expect this summer. Plus, I’ve got this neat little summary to share with you all. Hope you find it as interesting as I did!
