Right, so I was planning my evening around the Athletic Bilbao v Valencia match. Had it all figured out. Get home, grab some snacks, settle in. You know how it is, looking forward to a decent game, hoping for some proper football action.

Got everything ready. Chips, drinks, the lot. Switched the TV on, found the channel nice and early. Was feeling pretty good about it, actually. Just wanted to switch off and watch the game, forget about everything else for a bit.
Then Things Went Sideways
Just as the teams were about to come out, maybe 10 minutes before kickoff, I heard this weird dripping sound. Ignored it first, thought it was maybe the fridge or something. But it kept going. Drip… drip… drip. Couldn’t ignore it.
So, I got up, missed the initial lineup chat on TV, and went hunting for the source. Followed the sound to the kitchen. Looked under the sink. Bone dry. Checked the dishwasher connections. Nothing. The sound seemed to be coming from… inside the wall?
My heart sank a bit. That’s never good news, is it? Spent the next hour trying to figure it out.
- Turned the main water valve off and on.
- Listened against different parts of the wall.
- Checked the bathroom upstairs just in case.
By the time I even thought about the football again, halftime was probably long gone. The dripping hadn’t stopped, but it hadn’t gotten worse either. Decided I couldn’t relax with that noise going on. Ended up calling a plumber friend, left a message hoping he could swing by the next day.

So yeah, my big night watching Athletic Bilbao play Valencia turned into a hunt for a phantom leak. Completely missed the entire match. Saw the score later online, think it was a draw or something? Honestly, by that point, I was just thinking about water damage and plumbers’ bills.
It’s funny how you plan these small things, like watching a game, and life just throws something completely random at you. Didn’t get my football fix, but hey, at least I caught the leak before it hopefully became a major disaster. Still annoying though. That was my whole evening plan, gone.
