So, I wanted to try out Ascendancy iOS. You know, just messing around with apps and see what it does. Not like I’m some tech whiz, but I got bored one afternoon and figured, why not? It’s supposed to be this cool thing, maybe fun or useful.

The Setup Part
First thing, I grabbed my old iPhone—yeah, the one that’s a bit slow—and opened the app store. Searched for “Ascendancy iOS,” and boom, it popped up. Hit the install button, waited for it to download. Took ages, like my internet was acting up. While waiting, I made some coffee, ’cause why not? Kept checking if it was done every few minutes.
Once installed, I tapped the icon to start. Didn’t expect much, but it asked for all these permissions. Location, camera, you name it. I clicked “allow” for most, thinking it might not work otherwise. Then it went straight to a sign-up screen. Ugh, why do apps always want you to create an account? I tried using my junk email, but it got stuck loading. Tapped around, restarted the app twice, nothing. Almost gave up, but then I just put in fake info—something like “testuser123” and a random password. Hit “confirm,” and it worked.
Testing It Out
After logging in, I got thrown into this main screen. Looked kinda plain, with buttons everywhere. Started clicking stuff randomly. First, tried the “explore” feature, which showed a map but was blank. Figured it needed my real location, so I went outside for a walk. Stood in my yard, waving the phone around like an idiot. Suddenly, things popped up—little icons and text. Felt cool for a sec, but then it froze. Closed the app, reopened it, same thing.
- Problem number one: the thing kept crashing if I moved too fast. Annoying as heck.
- What I did: Restarted the phone. Still buggy. Tried the “help” section in the app, but it just said to update. Went back to the app store, saw an update available. Hit “update,” waited another forever. Downloaded it, tried again.
- Better, but not great: The map showed stuff now, but the icons were tiny and hard to tap. Missed them half the time.
Then, I thought, let’s try that “challenge” mode. Clicked on it, and it wanted me to scan something with the camera. Pointed at a random object—like a coffee cup on my table—and it actually recognized it. Neat! But then it asked me to “level up” by doing tasks. Started following the steps: took a photo, shared it somewhere (just to test, didn’t post), but it crashed again. Ugh. Went through this cycle three times, each time restarting and getting a bit further.
Finishing Up
After like an hour of fiddling, I managed to “unlock” a new feature. Whoop-de-doo. It showed some stats and said “achievement unlocked.” Felt pointless, but I shrugged. The app was still laggy, and honestly, I got tired. Closed it, put the phone down, and that was that. Overall, not worth the hassle. Apps like this make me wonder why people build ’em. Maybe it’s better on newer phones, but for me? Nah. Lesson learned: stick to simple games, not this stuff.
