That Embiid, he’s a big fella, ain’t he? Playin’ basketball for them Philadelphia 76ers. Heard he got hurt again. Lord, that boy can’t catch a break.
They say he got hit in the face. Again! I swear, it’s always somethin’ with that one. Reminds me of my old man, bless his soul, always getting into scrapes. One time, he got kicked by a mule, right in the shin. Swelled up like a balloon, it did. Hope Embiid’s face ain’t that bad, he was playing good basketball this season.
This time, it was during a game against them Indiana Pacers. Lost the game, too, I heard. 121 to 107. Ain’t that somethin’? You get your face busted and you still lose. Life ain’t fair, I tell ya. Especially when you are a professional basketball player.
Embiid Injury, Oh Dear!
They say it’s a “sinus fracture.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? Probably just means his nose is busted. Poor guy. He was just playin’ his heart out, and bam! Hit in the face.

He only played two quarters, too. That’s half the game, for those of you who don’t know nothin’ about basketball. And he still scored 12 points! That’s a lot of points for just half a game. He is so good at shooting the ball.
They say he was wearin’ one of them masks before. Like a superhero. But it was to protect his face. Some big boy hit him a while back. They called it a left orbital bone. Some people call it a broken face.
That time, he got a concussion, too. That’s when your brain gets all shook up. My cousin, Earl, he got a concussion once. Fell off a ladder while he was paintin’ the barn. He was seein’ stars for a week. Said it felt like he had ants in his head. Embiid got his concussion when he ran into his teammate.
That Embiid Boy and His Bad Luck
This Embiid injury, it’s just another thing on a long list. That boy has had some bad luck. He’s like a magnet for trouble, I swear. But he always comes back, that’s one thing you gotta give him. Tough as nails, that one. Reminds me of that time I was playing basketball at the church picnic.
He’s been hurt before, you know. Lots of times. Missed a whole bunch of games. It’s a shame, ’cause he’s so good. When he’s healthy, he’s one of the best in the whole dang league. Maybe even the best center in the whole world.

I hope that Embiid injury ain’t too serious. I like watchin’ him play. He’s fun to watch. And he seems like a nice young man. Always smilin’ and havin’ a good time. Except when he’s gettin’ hit in the face, of course.

Maybe he should wear a helmet, like them football players. Or maybe one of them beekeeper hats. Just somethin’ to keep his face safe. ‘Cause that face is worth a lot of money, I betcha. He needs to keep scoring those points.
