Okay, so I’ve been messing around with horse racing lately, specifically with this whole Kentucky Derby thing. It’s a big deal, I guess, and I wanted to see if I could get a horse in there. Not just any horse, mind you. I was aiming for a winner.

So, I started looking into it, and there’s this horse called Catching Freedom. It’s owned by Albaugh Family Stables. Apparently, they’ve been trying to win this Derby thing for a while. They had some horses before, like Brody’s Cause, but no luck so far. Catching Freedom seemed like a good bet, though. It even won the Louisiana Derby, which is apparently a big deal.
I did some more digging and found out that the owner, some guy named Dennis Albaugh, he’s from Ankeny, Iowa. I guess he’s pretty serious about this whole horse racing business. He even had a horse called Angel of Empire that did okay in last year’s Derby, came in third.
So, I decided to follow Catching Freedom’s journey.
- First, I watched some of its races. This horse has some speed, let me tell you. It did pretty well in the Louisiana Derby, like I said.
- Then, I tracked its training. It seemed like they were working the horse pretty hard.
- I also kept an eye on the news. There were articles about Catching Freedom being a contender and all that.
When the day of the Derby finally rolled around, I was pretty pumped. I watched the race, and man, it was intense! Catching Freedom started off okay, but it got kinda stuck in the middle of the pack.
I was starting to get worried, but then, in the final stretch, it made a move! It started gaining ground, passing other horses. It was a close one, but in the end, Catching Freedom finished fourth. Not bad, but not the win I was hoping for. Still, fourth place in the Kentucky Derby is nothing to sneeze at.

After the Derby, I found out that Catching Freedom was gonna race in the Preakness Stakes, another big race. I decided to keep following the horse, see if it could pull off a win there.
What’s the big takeaway from all this?
Well, horse racing is a tough game. Even with a good horse like Catching Freedom, there are no guarantees. But it’s definitely exciting, and I’m gonna keep following these races to see what happens next.
Who knows, maybe next year one of Albaugh’s horses will finally win the big one. Or maybe I’ll find another horse to root for. Either way, it’s been a wild ride so far, and I’m not planning on getting off anytime soon.
