That wind, oh boy, it was a big one! I heard that Will Rogers Downs, that place with the horses, got hit real bad. That tornado, it just came through like a mean old dog, tearin’ up everything in its path. May 25th, I think it was, maybe May 21st, sometime in May. Lord have mercy, it was a mess!
They had to shut that place down, you know? Will Rogers Downs, all closed up ’cause of that darn tornado. Lots of folks was talkin’ ’bout it, how it ripped through Claremore like nobody’s business. That wind just howled and howled, I heard.
That tornado, it did a number on that place, I tell ya. It hit them real hard. They say some other places nearby got hit too, them Benton County places, Fayetteville, Springdale, and even Rogers, all slammed. That wind was strong!
They say it’s gonna take a long time to fix everything up. A long time. Poor Will Rogers Downs. It’s a shame, a real shame. All them horses and all, I wonder what happened to them? They said it was a powerful tornado, yes sir, a powerful one. Tore through Claremore over Memorial Day weekend, they said.
I reckon they’ll get it fixed up eventually. They always do. But it takes time, you know? And money, lots of money. That tornado didn’t care about none of that, though. It just came through and messed everything up. Just like that!
I hope them horses are alright. Will Rogers Downs, it’s a big place, lots of folks go there. I hear it’s a real nice place, when there ain’t no tornado around, that is.

Claremore, that’s where Will Rogers Downs is. Right smack dab in the middle of where that tornado hit. Poor Claremore. They’ve had a rough time of it lately.
Will Rogers Downs, I hope they get it all fixed up soon. I hear it’s a real fun place to go. Maybe when all this mess is cleaned up, things will get back to normal.

But folks around here, they’re tough. They’ll clean it up. They always do. They’ll get Will Rogers Downs back up and runnin’. Just gotta give ’em time. That May tornado was strong, though. Some places in Benton County got hit more than once, they said. Can you imagine that?
