Okay, so I finally dove into “A Soul of Ash and Blood” series, and man, it was a ride! Thought I’d share my experience, the good, the messy, and everything in between.
First things first: I grabbed the first book. I’d heard so much hype about it, and honestly, I was a little skeptical. But hey, gotta see what all the fuss is about, right?
I remember cracking it open on a lazy Saturday morning with a huge mug of coffee. Started reading, and I was immediately hooked. The world-building was intense. It took a bit to wrap my head around all the terms and places, but once I did, I was totally invested.
Then came the characters. The main character, her sass? Loved it. Some of the supporting characters were a bit cardboard-y at first, but they grew on me as the story progressed. I got to know all of them, you know? I knew their strength and weaknesses.
The plot? Twisty! I thought I had it all figured out, but then bam! Plot twist. Then another one. I was constantly second-guessing myself, which I actually enjoyed. I like it when a book keeps me on my toes.
Around halfway through, I hit a bit of a slump. Things slowed down a bit, and I found myself getting distracted. I almost put it down, but I’m glad I didn’t. The last third of the book was insane. Non-stop action and reveals. I was up way past my bedtime trying to finish it.
Now, the messy part. There were definitely some things that bugged me. A few plot holes here and there, and some of the dialogue felt a little cheesy. And let’s be real, the romance? A bit over the top for my taste. But overall, the good outweighed the bad.
After finishing the first book, I immediately ordered the next one. Couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I’m now a convert. I will be a follower of the novel series.
