Well, I hear these young folks talking about this “Formula 1” thing, Sounds fancy, huh? It’s all about them fast cars. This opening ceremony, what’s that all about? I reckon it’s a big party before the big race. They call it the Formula 1 opening ceremony.
They got music and lights and all sorts of things. I saw it on the TV. Lots of flashy stuff. It’s like a big show they put on before them cars go zooming around. It’s in Las Vegas this time. That place is somethin’ else.
They say this thing, this Formula 1 opening ceremony, is to get everyone excited about the race. The Las Vegas Grand Prix, they say. Like, whoop-de-doo, right? I heard they got big stars coming. Singers and all that. They gotta do somethin’ to get folks to watch, I guess.
This whole Formula 1 thing, they got rules, you know? Like, how long they gotta race. They say something about this “75% rule”. Sounds like school! If them cars don’t go far enough, they don’t get all the points. Seems silly to me. Just let ’em race!
And this “qualifying” thing they do. It’s like a race before the race. They go in parts, Q1, Q2, Q3, like it’s some kind of test. Q1 is 18 minutes, Q2 is 15. I don’t know why they don’t just race all at once. It’s confusing.

This track, this place they race on, it’s long. 3.8 miles, they say. That’s a long way to be driving that fast. They say it is startin’ to heat up. I guess them cars get hot. This whole thing is a big deal, I guess. They’re tryin’ to make it a big party. Like a festival or somethin’. I don’t know much about these fast cars, but I guess some folks are real excited about it. These young people and their new things. This Formula 1 opening ceremony thing is just the start, they say.
