Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with recreating that super recognizable Joe Rogan laugh. You know the one – that hearty, “whoa!” kind of laugh he does? I figured it’d be fun to try and nail it down.

Getting Started
First, I spent some time just listening. I pulled up a bunch of Joe Rogan Experience podcast clips on YouTube – mostly the ones where he’s talking to comedians, ’cause those tend to get him going. I wasn’t even really paying attention to the conversations, just waiting for those big laughs.
Breaking it Down
After a while, I started to notice a few things. It’s not just one kind of laugh, you know? There’s like a whole spectrum.
- Sometimes it’s a quick, surprised burst.
- Other times it builds up from a chuckle.
- And then there are those full-blown, belly laughs that seem to go on forever!
I realized I needed to break it down into parts. The key things seemed to be:
- The “Ha!” Sound: it usually start with open “Ha!” sound.
- The Volume: It’s LOUD. This isn’t a polite chuckle; this is a full-body experience.
- The Breath: You can hear him taking these big, deep breaths between the “ha” sounds. It’s almost like he’s running out of air, but in a good way.
- The Inflection: It often goes up in pitch, like he’s genuinely surprised or amazed.
Practice Makes Perfect…Sort Of
So, I started trying it out. I felt kinda silly at first, just sitting there, trying to force out these big laughs. My dog definitely gave me some weird looks.
I tried mimicking the quick, surprised laugh first. “Ha! Ha!” Just short bursts. Then I worked on the build-up, starting with a chuckle and letting it grow into a bigger “HA! HA! HAAA!”

The breathing was tricky. I had to really focus on taking those deep breaths and letting the air kind of explode out with the laugh. It’s almost like a controlled yell, but with a laugh shape to it. I don’t want to use scientific way, that how I felt.
The Results
Honestly, I’m still not quite there. I can get close, but it doesn’t sound exactly like him. It’s harder than it looks! I think I need to practice more on the inflection, getting that rising pitch just right.
But hey, it was a fun experiment! And I definitely got a good ab workout from all that laughing. Maybe I’ll keep practicing and see if I can master the Joe Rogan laugh one day. For now, I’ll just appreciate his unique laugh from a distance.
