Okay, so I saw this “sky blue french tip 1.5 nails” thing trending, and I was like, “What the heck is that?” I’m not gonna lie, I’m usually a simple nude nail kinda gal, but this looked kinda cool and summery. So, I decided to give it a shot, totally DIY style.
Gathering My Supplies (and Courage!)
First things first, I needed the right stuff. I already had a basic nail kit – you know, clippers, file, buffer, that orange stick thingy. Then, I grabbed:
- Sky blue nail polish: I went with a pastel-ish one, ’cause I figured that’s what “sky blue” meant.

- Thin nail art brush: This was the key, I figured, for getting those crisp lines. I actually just used an old, super-thin paintbrush I had lying around.
Prepping My Nails
I started by taking off any old polish I had on. Then, I clipped and filed my nails into a squoval shape. That’s what I always do, ’cause I think it looks best on my hands. I pushed back my cuticles with the orange stick – gently, ’cause I’ve ripped them before, and ouch!
The Base Coat

The Tricky Part: French Tips
Okay, here’s where things got interesting. I dipped my super-thin brush into the white polish, wiping off any extra so it wouldn’t be gloopy. Then, very carefully, I started painting the tips of my nails.I will be honest, my hands were shaking, I wanted to get perfect and straight line.
Tips: My first few attempts were, um, not great. They were kinda wobbly and uneven. But I kept practicing, wiping off mistakes with a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover. Eventually, I got the hang of it. The trick, I realized, was to use short, quick strokes and not to press too * I made two coats as same as base coat.
Finishing Touches
Once the white tips were dry (like, really dry), I applied a generous layer of top coat to seal everything in and give it a nice shine. And…that was it!
I have to say, I was pretty impressed with myself! My “sky blue french tip 1.5 nails” looked pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. They weren’t perfect, but they were definitely cute and summery. And the “1.5” part? I guess that just means the tips are a little wider than a traditional French manicure. Which, yeah, mine definitely were.
