Well, guys, I bumped into this thing called “dechamp” the other day, and I thought I’d give it a shot. So, I started by reading up a bit about it. I found out that this Marcel Duchamp guy was pretty famous for it, which kind of made me curious.
First, I tried to copy what he did with his “Readymades” thing. I grabbed some stuff from around the house and put them together, just like he did. It felt kind of weird, taking ordinary things and calling them art, but hey, that’s what he did, right?
Then I moved on to something called “To Be Looked At (From the Other Side of the Glass) With One Eye, Close to, for Almost an Hour.” Sounds crazy, I know. I tried to follow the instructions as best as I could. Staring at something through glass for an hour with one eye is not as easy as it sounds, let me tell you!
Trying to Figure It Out
I also saw some old photos of Duchamp with his buddies, Jacques Villon and Raymond Duchamp-Villon, in a garden. It looked like they were having a good time, so I tried to recreate that vibe with my friends. We hung out in my backyard, trying to channel our inner artists. It was fun, even though we didn’t really know what we were doing.
- Grab random stuff
- Put it together like Duchamp
- Stare at it through glass for an hour
- Hang out with friends in the garden
I even tried to understand this “Fountain” thing that Duchamp did. People call it a “ready-made” type of art. Honestly, I didn’t get it at first. I mean, calling a urinal “art” is pretty out there. But I gave it a go, trying to see it the way he did. It was a bit of a stretch, but I think I started to see what he was getting at.
In the end, I realized that this “dechamp” thing is more about the idea than the actual stuff. It’s about looking at things differently and questioning what art really is. It was a wild ride, and I’m not sure I totally get it, but it was definitely an experience. I think I’ll stick to my blog for now, but who knows, maybe I’ll try some more “dechamp” stuff in the future. It’s always good to try new things, right?
