So, I dived into this whole March Madness thing, right? I’ve always been a sports fan, but more of the armchair variety. This year, I decided to get my hands dirty, so to speak. I started by looking up some free sports picks. I mean, who doesn’t like free stuff? Plus, I figured it would be a good way to dip my toes into the water without making too many rookie mistakes.

I spent a good chunk of time looking at these handicappers’ profiles, you know, trying to figure out their strategies. It was like learning a new language, honestly. They were talking about spreads, money lines, and over/unders. I just wrote it down, even though I didn’t quite understand it at first, I thought I could understand it after writing it down.
Next, I came across Pickwise. That site was a goldmine! They cover pretty much every major US sport you can think of. For March Madness, they had all kinds of articles, predictions, and tips. I spent hours there, reading and taking notes. I even printed out some of the stuff to highlight and scribble on. Yes, I’m that guy now.
Then there was the task of finding the actual bracket. It sounds easy, but it took me down a rabbit hole of websites. I wanted the official ESPN one, and let me tell you, it wasn’t as straightforward as you’d think. But I finally found it, printed it out, and stuck it on my fridge. It felt like a trophy, honestly.
Reading their picks
I spent some time going through various experts’ predictions. Some of them were from big names in sports journalism, others were from independent analysts. It was interesting to see the different takes on each team and matchup. I started to get a feel for who the favorites were, who the underdogs were, and which games were expected to be close.
- Read all their picks.
- Making my notes about some tips.
- Making my bracket.
- Watch it!
Armed with all this newfound knowledge, I decided to fill out my own bracket. It was a mix of following the experts’ advice and going with my gut. Some of the guys that looked so strong and I picked them to win. After I filled it out, I felt a strange sense of accomplishment. It was like I had cracked some secret code. Of course, the games haven’t started yet, so who knows how well I actually did? But for now, I’m feeling pretty good about my picks. We’ll see how it all pans out, but one thing’s for sure, I’m way more invested in March Madness than I ever thought I’d be. This could be the start of a beautiful, or maybe painful, annual tradition.

Anyway, this is my story about the picks.
