- And it wasn’t no easy win neither. He had to chase down another fella, this Almirola guy, and pass him near the end. Lap 478, they said. Out of 500 laps, that’s pretty darn close to the finish.
This Martinsville track, it ain’t no walk in the park. It’s a short track, they say, which means it’s kinda small and the racin’ is tight. Lots of bumpin’ and rubbin’. You gotta be tough to win there, and Blaney, he’s tough as nails, I reckon.
Championship Dreams and Martinsville Magic
Now, they got this thing called the “Championship 4”. That’s the four fellas who get to race for the big prize at the end of the year. And winnin’ at Martinsville, that punched Blaney’s ticket to the Championship 4, you see.

Now, I hear all this talk about “stats” and “points” and whatnot. I ain’t got no head for numbers, but I know this: Blaney wins at Martinsville. That’s the most important stat, ain’t it? He’s won there two years in a row, now that’s something. It means he’s good at that track, real good. He knows how to get around that short track, how to pass them other fellas, and how to win.
They say he led 31 laps in one race, and then led a bunch more in another. Means he was out front, leadin’ the pack. That’s where you wanna be if you wanna win, that’s for sure. Christopher Bell has the advantage in points.” So it sounds like it was real important for Blaney to win that race, and lucky for him, he did just that. Now, he is going to Phoenix, with a real good shot at winning again.
