Okay, so the other day I started playing Baldur’s Gate 3 again – you know, that game everyone’s been talking about? I was messing around in the Underdark, just exploring and stuff, when I ran into this weirdo named Blurg.

He’s a hobgoblin, which is already kinda strange, but then he introduces me to his buddy Omeluum. This guy is a mind flayer, but like, a chill one? It’s a long story. Anyway, Omeluum offers to help with the whole tadpole-in-the-brain situation. He says he can make a special potion to get rid of it, but he needs a couple of weird mushrooms first.
So, naturally, I went off on a wild goose chase for these mushrooms. I found them eventually, brought them back, and Omeluum whipped up this potion. Now, here’s where things got interesting. He handed me the potion, and I’m standing there like, “Do I really want to drink this?” I mean, it’s a mind flayer’s potion. Who knows what it’ll do?
But I figured, what the hell, I’m already in this deep. I chugged the potion down. It tasted awful, by the way. And then, boom! My blood felt like it was on fire. Omeluum called it “Unstable Blood” or something. Basically, my blood was now super flammable, and if anything nearby caught fire, I’d go up in flames too. Fun, right?
- Drink the potion: My blood became flammable, so that’s a thing.
- Don’t drink the potion: Miss out on a cool ring and a weird experience.
But here’s the kicker. Turns out, letting Omeluum try his “cure” has no bad stuff happening. Like, at all. Plus, you get this sweet Ring of Mind-Shielding out of it. So, in the end, it was totally worth it. And later I found this mind flayer in the Iron Throne and it became my temporary companion with the ability to Teleport to Submersible.
Moral of the story? Sometimes you gotta trust the weird mind flayer and drink the funky potion. You might just end up with some cool loot and a fiery blood problem.

If you find yourself in the same boat, don’t sweat it. Just drink the potion. Trust me. Or don’t. It’s your call, really.
And hey, what’s the worst that could happen? You explode? Big deal. It’s all part of the adventure, right?
Other Effects and Risks
Some folks thought drinking it might turn you into a full-on mind flayer, or even kill you. But nah, nothing like that happened. Just fiery blood. And a cool ring. So yeah, if you meet Omeluum in BG3, go for it. Drink the potion. Embrace the chaos.
