Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! Today, I want to share a pretty cool story about the time I actually got to see Tiger Woods play, and how Max Homa kind of stole the show.
So, a while back, I managed to snag some tickets to The Genesis Invitational. You know, the one Tiger Woods hosts? I was stoked! I’ve always been a huge Tiger fan, and getting to see him play in person was a dream come true.
The first day, I’m walking around Riviera Country Club, just soaking it all in. The atmosphere was electric. Everyone was buzzing about Tiger being back. He hadn’t played in a while, and this was his big return to the PGA Tour. He shot a 72, which, you know, for coming back after all that time, wasn’t too shabby. But, man, he shanked a ball on the last hole! It was kind of a bummer way to end, but hey, it’s Tiger, right?
The next day, things got even more interesting. I was following Max Homa around the course. I’d always liked Homa, and he was playing some really solid golf. He just seemed so calm and collected out there, even with all the pressure. It was clear to me he knew his skills that day. He carded a sweet 68, with like six birdies. The guy was on fire!
- Walked around Riviera Country Club, soaking in the atmosphere.
- Watched Tiger Woods play, noticed his shank on the last hole.
- Followed Max Homa, impressed by his calm demeanor and solid golf.
As the tournament went on, it became clear that Homa was a real contender. He kept hitting these amazing shots, and the crowd was really getting behind him. Meanwhile, I was still trying to catch glimpses of Tiger whenever I could. I felt kind of bad for the guy; you could tell he was struggling a bit. It makes me wonder if his body was failing him again. I hope that is not the case!
Then, on Friday, Tiger had to withdraw. He was carted off the course, and everyone was wondering what had happened. It was a real downer, to be honest. My thoughts were with him for sure. I was worried!
But the show must go on, right? And boy, did it! Homa kept playing lights out, and he ended up in a playoff with Tony Finau. Talk about a nail-biter! It was a sudden-death playoff, and the tension was thicker than you can imagine.
And guess what? Homa won! He actually beat Finau and took home the trophy. It was such an incredible moment, and I was so happy for him. Can you believe that?! He actually won. I mean, I knew he had it in him, but still. Wow!
The highlight of it all?
Tiger Woods himself presented Homa with the trophy. Seeing them together, the legend and the new champ, it was just surreal. I remember seeing something about Homa tweeting about Tiger afterwards. Something about looking up to him as a fan and now teeing it up with him. It really made the whole thing even more special, knowing how much it meant to Homa.

So yeah, that’s my story about the time I went to see Tiger Woods, and Max Homa ended up winning The Genesis Invitational. It was a wild ride, full of ups and downs, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. It just goes to show you, anything can happen in golf! And, you know, it’s pretty cool to witness history in the making, even if it’s not exactly the history you expected.
