Today, I wanted to mess around and make a cool logo for the New York Knicks. I’m a big fan, and I’ve always thought their logo could use a little something extra. So, I fired up my computer and got to work.
First, I started by looking at their current logo. It’s classic, I’ll give them that, but it’s a little plain. I wanted something that kept the spirit of the original but with a modern twist. I spent some time just doodling on paper, trying out different ideas. Basketballs, hoops, the New York skyline… you name it, I probably sketched it.
After a bunch of rough sketches, I had a few ideas I liked. I decided to use some design software to bring my favorite idea to life. I’m not a professional designer or anything, but I know my way around these programs. It’s always fun to play around and see what I can create.
I played with the colors for a while—the classic Knicks orange and blue. I wanted the colors to pop but not be too overwhelming. I also tried a few different fonts for the team name. It’s crazy how much a font can change the whole vibe of a logo!
- Experimented with incorporating a basketball into the design.
- Tried adding elements of the city skyline in the background.
- Played around with making the logo look more dynamic, like it was in motion.
It took a few hours of tweaking and adjusting, but finally, I had something I was pretty happy with. It’s got the classic Knicks feel, but it’s also fresh and new. I even showed it to a couple of my buddies who are also big Knicks fans, and they loved it!
Realization
I know it’s just a fun little project, and the Knicks probably aren’t going to change their logo anytime soon, but it was a blast to make. Maybe I’ll make some T-shirts with my design, just for me and my friends. Who knows, maybe one day the Knicks will see it and like it! A guy can dream, right?
