asu or texas tech: Lets Break Down the Pros and Cons!

Okay, so I was thinking about which college to go to, and I was stuck between Arizona State University (ASU) and Texas Tech University (TTU). They both seemed pretty cool, but I had to dig deeper to figure out which one was the right fit for me. And I’m here to share my own experience with you guys!

Starting the Research

First thing I did was hit up the internet. I mean, where else do you go for information these days? I found out that both schools are pretty big on academics. TTU, in particular, has a good rep for engineering, business, and agriculture. ASU, on the other hand, seemed to have a broader range of programs. I think they both have good reputation on the job market, as far as I’ve checked.

Checking Out the Acceptance Rates

Next, I looked at the acceptance rates. Found some data saying U of A (which I assume is similar to ASU in this aspect) had an acceptance rate of around 76.9% back in 2014. Couldn’t find the exact numbers for TTU, but it seemed like both schools were pretty welcoming to new students. Not too exclusive in any way.

Campus Life and Location

Then I started thinking about what it would be like to actually live on these campuses. Heard some not-so-great things about ASU’s study spots. Apparently, the coffee shops close early, and the library gets packed, especially during finals. As for TTU, the campus is HUGE. Like, you really gotta plan your classes based on where they are, or you’ll be late all the time. Even with the buses, it’s a struggle, or so I’ve heard.

Comparing Programs

  • ASU: Seems to have a wider variety of programs.
  • TTU: Strong reputation in engineering, business, and agriculture.

Both schools offer strong academic programs, I had to say. But, I felt like TTU had a bit of an edge in terms of reputation, especially in those specific fields I mentioned. I spent a good amount of time researching the faculty and facilities for the programs I was interested in.

Making a Decision

After all that digging, it really came down to what I wanted to study and what kind of college experience I was looking for. I had to weigh the pros and cons of each school and see which one aligned better with my goals. It was not an easy decision, but it was really helpful to check out all the facts and some personal experience from others before I made my own choice.

And that’s how I made my decision of which college I would like to go to. It was a long journey, but I’m glad I did it. I hope this helps anyone who’s in the same boat as me!
