Yamaha R6S 2007 for Beginners: Is This a Good First Sportbike for New Riders

Okay, so, I’ve been wanting a Yamaha R6 for a while now. I finally pulled the trigger and got my hands on a used 2007 Yamaha R6s. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.

First, I had to find one. I started by looking online, checking out forums and classifieds. I also asked around at local motorcycle shops. It took some time, but eventually, I found a few potential bikes.

Then came the hard part – inspecting the bikes. I’m not a mechanic, but I did my research and knew what to look for. I checked the engine, the frame, the suspension, and the tires. I also took each bike for a test ride to see how it handled. I didn’t like the first two. One was wrecked before and the other one didn’t feel right when I was riding it. I did some more searching after that.

Finally, I found the one. It was a 2007 R6s in great condition with low mileage. The owner took good care of it and had all the service records. After inspecting it thoroughly and taking it for a test ride. We made a deal, and I rode it home.

Getting it Ready

  • The first thing I did was give it a good cleaning. I washed it, waxed it, and polished it until it shined. I mean everything. I even cleaned the chain.
  • Then I checked the fluids. I made sure the oil, coolant, and brake fluid were all at the right levels. I topped them off if necessary. I think I changed the oil just to be safe.
  • I also checked the tires. I made sure they were properly inflated and had enough tread. I replaced them because they were old.
  • After that, I took it for a few short rides. I wanted to get used to how it handled and make sure everything was working properly. I think I went up and down the street like 5 times. It was great.

Hitting the Road

Once I felt comfortable, I started taking it on longer rides. I rode it around town, on the highway, and even on some twisty roads. It’s an amazing bike to ride. It’s fast, agile, and responsive. I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve had the bike for a few months now, and I’ve put a few thousand miles on it. I’ve taken it on some long trips and even done a track day. It’s never let me down, and it always puts a smile on my face. I think I’m going to keep this bike for a long, long time.
