So, I’ve been messing around with my Honda CRF250L lately, trying to figure out its weight and all that jazz. You know, just getting to know my bike better. It’s not exactly a featherweight, that’s for sure. I mean, it’s not like those super-light trail bikes that are practically made of air. This one’s got some heft to it, which is cool, but it also means you feel it when you’re riding.

I remember the first time I picked it up after a little spill – whoa, it was definitely heavier than I expected! It’s about 66 pounds heavier than the CRF250X, which is like, a pure off-road beast. So, yeah, I had to adjust my expectations when taking this thing off the pavement. I let some air out of the tires, down to like 16 psi, and it made a big difference. Suddenly, it wasn’t so bad on those rocky trails.
- First Ride: Took it out for a spin and quickly realized this wasn’t a super-light trail bike.
- Tire Adjustment: Lowered the tire pressure to around 16 psi. Big improvement off-road!
- Speed Wobbles: Noticed it gets a bit wobbly when you push it past 65 mph. Maybe it’s the tires, maybe it’s just how it is.
One thing I gotta say is, this bike is a trooper. It’s super reliable, even though I tend to push it pretty hard. It’s always revving high, but the service intervals are still at 4,000 miles, which is pretty decent. And get this – you only need to check the valve clearances at 16,000 miles! That’s insane. It’s a small engine, but it’s built to last, I guess.
Easy Rider
Even though it looks like a motocross bike, it’s actually pretty easy to ride. The bars are kind of low, which is comfortable. I think it’s a good bike for beginners, or for someone who wants something that can handle both roads and trails without being too hardcore. It looks cool, it rides well, and it doesn’t need a ton of maintenance. What more could you ask for? Honestly, after riding it for a while, I’m really happy with it.
It may not be the lightest or fastest bike out there, but it’s a solid machine that’s fun to ride and easy to live with. And for me, that’s what matters most. I’m not trying to win any races, just trying to have some fun and explore some trails. And this bike is perfect for that. I was really happy I made the effort to learn more about this bike, because it made me appreciate what a great machine it is.
