My Hotel Hunting Mission Near Kingsmill Golf
Alright, so last Tuesday, I woke up and seriously thought, “Man, I just wanna play Kingsmill Plantation every single morning this week without driving half an hour.” That course is killer early, right? Gotta beat the crowds. Problem was, my place is way across town. Traffic is brutal.

First thing I did, I grabbed my laptop and just started typing stuff like “hotels near Kingsmill Plantation Golf.” Figured that was the obvious start. Bam, tons of results popped up, but honestly, half looked sketchy or way outdated. You know how websites lie sometimes?
Didn’t trust just the search. Pulled up my phone and opened a couple different travel apps. Started comparing locations directly. Used the map view – gotta see that distance on the actual roads! Scrolled around the area near the golf entrance. Kept thinking, “Walkable? Or shuttle?” Honestly, walking to the course would be pure gold. Found a few spots claiming to be nearby.
Next step: Deep diving into those hotels. Checked every single review site I knew. Filtered recent reviews, specifically hunted for keywords like:
- golf view
- Kingsmill shuttle
- easy tee time access
- how clean is the place?
Saw one promising place – good price, close on the map. But then, review nightmare! Dude said the “golf course view” was basically a parking lot, and the shuttle only runs twice a day. Trashed that idea fast. Another one looked fancy, but price was crazy for what I needed. I ain’t paying resort prices just to sleep between rounds.
Kept digging. Found this smaller hotel tucked away, not part of a huge chain. Reviews were mostly solid, especially about location and being chill for golfers. Saw a picture someone took of a tee box from their balcony. Jackpot? Called the hotel directly – always do this, guys! Asked the front desk straight up:

- “How far exactly to the Kingsmill Plantation clubhouse? Driving time?”
- “Got a shuttle? How often? Need to book it?”
- “Breakfast start time?”
Lady was super helpful. Confirmed it was legit like 5 minutes by car, or a 15-minute walk through a neighborhood path. Shuttle ran every hour starting at 6 AM, first come first serve. Coffee brewing at 5:30 AM? Perfect. Boom. Booked it for four nights.
Got there Monday afternoon. Room was decent, clean enough. Woke up Tuesday at stupid o’clock. Chugged coffee in the lobby at 5:45 AM with a couple other zombie golfers. Hopped the 6 AM shuttle. Driver dropped us right at the pro shop ten minutes before sunrise. Played 18 before breakfast. Felt like I beat the whole world. Did that exact routine every morning. Totally worth the hotel hassle. Staying close? Game changer.
