So last week I decided to tackle that Ullr weapon grind in FFXIV. Heard it was rough, but man, underestimated it big time. Wanted that shiny new axe for my Warrior, right? Needed a faster way, didn’t wanna spend weeks.
The Big Frustration At The Start
Started just spamming dungeons like usual. What a slog. Felt super slow. Took forever just to get enough Tomestones of Poetics for one step. Plus, those daily roulettes? Barely made a dent. Was getting kinda demoralized, wasting hours without seeing much progress. Felt stuck.
Finding The Better Path
Stumbled onto something way better in Bozjan Southern Front. Totally shifted gears:
- Joined Critical Engagements whenever they popped. Just shouted in shout chat, hopped in parties. Way more action, way more rewards.
- Grinded Lost Actions and Fragments. Got my hands on stuff like Essence of the Beast and Lost Font of Power. Sounds fancy, but basically just makes you hit WAY harder in Bozja.
- Chained FATEs like crazy. Focused hard on zones actively being contested. Followed the zerg, killed stuff non-stop. Using those powerful essences meant melting mobs super fast, way better than dungeons.
- Used that Bozjan cluster stuff. Saved up all the clusters I earned just running around killing and doing CEs. Exchanged them directly for the Poetics I needed. Huge time-saver, skipped so much dungeon grinding.
What Finally Clicked & Worked
Honestly, the biggest game-changer was realizing Bozja is the express lane. Plain and simple. Before, grinding FATEs outside felt pointless and slow. But in Bozja, with a big group, good essences, and constant Critical Engagements, the Poetics just flooded in. Plus converting clusters cut out so much nonsense. Went from barely any progress to that shiny Ullr axe in my hands way quicker than I thought possible. Felt like cheating, but totally legit!
